Fox News and Tucker Carlson agree to part ways after $787M defamation lawsuit over election fraud claims
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Tucker Carlson, who has been the face of Fox News for years, is leaving the network in the wake of a massive defamation lawsuit reportedly worth over $787 million. In a statement released by a network spokesperson, it was confirmed that "Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor." Carlson's last day at work was Friday, April 21.
The defamation lawsuit stemmed from segments aired by Fox News promoting bogus claims of election fraud that allegedly cheated former President Donald Trump of victory in 2020. Carlson appeared in the lawsuit filed by election technology company Dominion Voting Systems. Additionally, Carlson was the prime focus of a lawsuit filed by his former senior booking producer, Abby Grossberg. Grossberg accused Carlson and Fox News of sexism and harassment, alleging that misogyny was rampant in the workplace of his primetime show 'Tucker Carlson Tonight.'

'Distortions and misinformation'
Before the settlement, Fox News had attacked Dominion over the lawsuit, with a network spokesperson accusing the company of engaging in a "PR campaign to smear Fox News and trample on free speech and freedom of the press," and claiming that there were "distortions and misinformation" at play.
'[Fox] sold a false story of election fraud'
In its court filing, Dominion Voting Systems argued that Fox News "sold a false story of election fraud in order to serve its own commercial purposes, severely injuring Dominion in the process." Fox News, however, countered these accusations, claiming that Dominion had "mischaracterized the record" and "cherry-picked quotes stripped of key context." Following Tucker Carlson's departure from the network, a rotating cast of personalities will fill in for him during the prime-time slot until his permanent replacement is found, according to People.
