HAUNTED HIGHWAY: Trucker's dashcam captures chilling ghostly image on 'haunted' Arizona road
PHOENIX, ARIZONA: A mysterious figure on the side of an empty road was caught on a truck driver's dashcam while he was driving down an Arizona highway. The eerie discovery sparked a discussion on supernatural sightings in the area.
William Church was reportedly driving down Arizona State Route 87 on Saturday, March 11, when he noticed a bright glare in his dashcam. He wonders if the flashing figure was a ghost, which was spotted around 2.30 a.m. local time when he passed the highway’s 200-mile marker, which is reportedly between Phoenix and Payson.

'Just standing in the roadway'
Church insisted there were no other cars on the road, per Fox 10 Phoenix. He said that he thinks the translucent figure looks like a person “just standing in the roadway,” adding, "You can see the lines through the legs making the figure." The six-second clip was recorded on a Nexar dashcam, which is usually installed for security reasons.
One of Arizona's 'most dangerous roads'
It's worth noting that Arizona State Route 87 is a north-to-south highway that measures approximately 273 miles and was built in 1927. According to the New York Post, the north end travels to State Route 264 near Second Mesa while the south end travels to Interstate-10 near Picacho. The 96-year-old highway has seen several fatal car accidents over the years, causing some locals to believe the road is haunted. Valley Chevy Dealers in Phoenix described State Route 87 as one of Arizona’s “most dangerous roads” due to its beeline-like route that has “a lot of looping turns."

According to Fox, a recent fatal car crash took place on the highway near milepost 201 in early February. It was reportedly a two-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of one person near Bush Highway, which is east of Fountain Hills, a town in Maricopa County. The outlet reported that the cause of the crash was unknown at the time.
'The stuff I’ve seen is insane'
That said, many of those who viewed Church’s video on YouTube insisted they had witnessed considerable supernatural activity on Arizona highways.
"This stretch of roadway both north to Payson and south to Tucson is incredibly creepy, especially at night. One of the cases...was from the route going south to Tucson where one claimed to have picked up a hitchhiker whose name matched someone who went missing back in the ’70s," one commented. "Seen a ghost standing next to a small drainage bridge," another claimed, adding, "We investigated any accidents in that area when we got home and a guy died in a car accident a day before at that location. The picture in the paper showed the guy in a red shirt and blue jeans. When we saw the apparition it had a red shirt and blue pants. Real freaky."
Someone else chimed in, "I don't think it's glare. It's too centralized in one spot. Spooky Spooky!" Another offered, "Lived there for 8 years. There actually right now to visit with family. And the stuff I’ve seen is insane."
