Former CLC member Sorn, who recently announced her exit from the girl group and started as a promising solo artist, is being attacked by some trolls on the internet who would not leave her alone. Sorn went viral on Twitter a couple of times in the past where trolls misunderstood her so much so that the Thai-born singer was labeled a racist and was called out for ‘queerbaiting’.

Ever since CLC members went on a hiatus, Sorn has been trying to find her way as a K-pop idol, and all thanks to her rising popularity on the internet, she turned into a viral influencer on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. With every new day, fans notice a new viral trend on TikTok, and Sorn who was active on the platforms is known to take part in every new trend. Two out of the many TikToks Sorn performed in her videos are being misinterpreted and which has led to fans calling her a racist as well as a queerbaiting idol.

Sorn bullied after past misunderstood videos

Fans of Sorn believe that the ‘Sharp Objects’ singer is being misunderstood online because these trolls are not aware of how TikTok trends work. In a now-viral edit from Twitter, user @devilysus was seen appreciating the female K-pop stars who had gone blonde for their concepts and radiated a “barbie-doll” vibe. The user also titled the edit as ‘Barbie Idols’ and played CLC member Yeeun’s single ‘Barbie’ as the background music on the video.

Among the many idols that appeared on the edit, fans noticed that the video used for Sorn was not very flattering to her looks, and thus came a ton of memes that had people poking fun at Sorn. One user said, “How sorn looked in that Barbie edit.” Another user said, “Me when i saw sorn.” Another user said, “My contender for barbie instead of sorn.” Another user said, “Sorn is everything but a barbie.”

Fans of Sorn try to clear out the misunderstanding

As the bullying against Sorn kept getting out of hand, a fan tried to bring to the attention of trolls how Sorn was in fact misunderstood in the past. In one of her now-deleted TikTok, Sorn was seen following a fun trend where hand-signs led to an “identification of their sexual orientation” only as a joke. Trolls on the internet took the issue out of hand as they claimed that Sorn was being queerbaiting as she ended up with the hand-sign for bisexual.

In another video that Sorn has now deleted, the singer was misunderstood again and called racist for allegedly giving Netflix show ‘Squid Game’ character Ali Abdul, played by Indian actor Anupam Tripathi, a beauty product.

In the trend, a user was supposed to shower the characters of the show they loved with beauty products and give nothing to the characters they hated. Sorn, who ended up giving more products to Anupam’s character, was called a racist for giving ‘whitening’ products to a brown-skinned man; but fans defended Sorn saying those could be the products the idol used regularly. ‘Stop bullying her’

All these accusations have fans claiming how Sorn had been misunderstood in the past and now trolls on the internet are plainly bullying her for no specific reason. One fan said, “The only reason sorn gets hate, is because (people) don't know how tiktok trends work.” The OP (original poster) that made the edit said, “And ofc the only thing stan twt is going to do is bully sorn at the end of the day.. you are f*cking crazy this is MY edit go and make your own edit if you want to see your gave.” One more fan said, “Stan twt will drag clc through the mud every day on this app but suddenly see sorn on yeeun’s barbie track and say she doesn’t belong who are y’all to gatekeep clc from sorn over her “looks”...”

One user said, “Feel bad for the twitter employee that had to explain that sorn is trending because stan twitter decided to bully her today.” As one user said, “bully sorn” isn’t she a racist?” a Sorn fan replied, “This is about the colorismos thing, you’re allowed to have an opinion and it’s totally valid, just clarifying.” One fan asked, “Why is the hate towards sorn so normalized oh god?” One user said, “Nah I hate racist people, not sorry. Says a lot about you that ur so desperate to defend her,” to which a fan responded, “SO LETS BULLY HER UNTIL SHE GETS DEPRESSION AND SU*CIDE,BECAUSE THATS WHAT WE TWITTER FOLKS ARE KNOWN FOR.”
