Tristan Tate subtly slams Nathaniel Curtis' casting as Isaac Newton in 'Doctor Who', Internet says 'it's getting weird'
BUCHAREST, ROMANIA: Tristan Tate, known for generating controversy through his provocative remarks on X (formerly Twitter) recently stirred up another round of discussion with a response to a tweet discussing the casting details of the upcoming season of 'Doctor Who'.
Debuting in 1963, 'Doctor Who' is a British science fiction television series presented by the BBC.
The series depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called the Doctor, an extraterrestrial being who appears to be human. The Doctor explores the universe in a time-traveling spaceship called the TARDIS.
The exterior of the TARDIS, resembling a blue British police box, pays homage to the common sight in 1963 Britain, the year of the series' inception.
Accompanied by various companions, the Doctor engages in battles against adversaries, endeavors to preserve civilizations, and lends assistance to those in need.

Despite the apparent positive tone with the use of exclamation points and praising adjectives, some online users interpreted Tate's message as dripping with sarcasm.
Tate's remark was in response to Internet personality Oli London's tweet, which highlighted the casting choices and changes in 'Doctor Who', underscoring the show's commitment to diversity and representation.
London tweeted, "Isaac Newton played by Indian actor in new Doctor Who, despite the English physicist being Caucasian with pale skin. The new Doctor Who series has also introduced ‘preferred pronouns’ for characters as well as the Doctors female sidekick being played by a transgender actor."

This comes after British actor Nathaniel Curtis was cast in the second 60th anniversary special 'Wild Blue Yonder'.
The role of Issac Newton in the series was played by 'It's a Sin' star Curtis, whose casting was not announced prior to the episode being broadcast.
