Tori Bowie’s death: Police discovered body of three-time Olympic medalist during welfare check

The Orange County Sheriff's Department has also said that it did not believe any foul play was involved in the 32-year-old sprinter’s death

CLERMONT, FLORIDA: A wellness check reportedly led to the shocking discovery of Tori Bowie’s dead body, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. The police department also said that it did not believe any foul play was involved in the 32-year-old sprinter’s death.

As per PEOPLE, the cops from the Sheriff's Department reached Bowie’s house on Tuesday afternoon, May 2, to “conduct a well-being check of a woman in her 30s who had not been seen or heard from in several days.” Soon after arriving at the residence on Bowman Drive, the officers discovered the body. The department claimed “no signs of foul play”. But it also added, “We have no additional information to release at this time.”

‘We’re truly heartbroken’

The management firm of the former world 100m champion shared a statement on Twitter on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, confirming her death. Icon Management Inc wrote, “We’re devasted to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away. We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter, and sister. Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shined so bright! We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family and friends.”

Many people posted their tribute after the statement was released. Jamaican Politician Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn tweeted, “My condolences to the family of this talented athlete. Gone way too soon. RIP Tori.” A social media user said, “I can’t believe this. I had just heard word of her going to be with her sister back home and now this. This breaks my heart to hear and I will keep the family in my prayers.”

The second user wrote, “So devastating and shocking to learn of the passing on of Tori Bowie 😭The world of athletics have lost a great champion and patriot of the sport, rest in peace Tori 💐 Condolences 💐 to the greater family of Tori Bowie, together in prayers.”



 



 

Another one posted, “💔💔 too young. Gutted to hear about Tori Bowie. Incredible talent. A beautiful runner. I pray for the comfort of her family, thank you for blessing us with her. The running community mourns an incredible loss.”

TeamUSA noted, “We join our friends at USA Track & Field and across the Olympic community in mourning the passing of 3x Olympic medalist Tori Bowie. She was an admired friend, teammate, and a great representative of Team USA. We send our sincere condolences to all who know and loved her.”
