Tom Cruise says Shakira's 'hips don't lie' after being snubbed by her
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Cruise is full of praises for the Colombian singer Shakira. After meeting the ‘Waka Waka’ singer during the Miami Grand Prix, the mother-of-two apparently enamored the ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ star with her family, work, and her hips! While Cruise was in the city, he was interviewed by journalist Jessica Rodriguez of Univisión’s program ‘Despierta América’. When asked about his thoughts on Shakira, Cruise, 60, was all smiles. He heaped praises not only on the singer’s talent but also on her family. He said, "She's very talented. She and her family are lovely people. I've always admired her work…” He further highlighted that “she's a very good person, she's a very good person.”
Referring to Shakira’s song ‘Hips Don’t Lie’, when the interviewer insinuated the idea about the singer’s attributes, Cruise further carried on saying, "No, her hips don't lie, they don't."

‘Shakira is not interested in having anything romantic with Tom’
While the action star seems to have been deeply interested in FC Barcelona star Gerard Pique’s ex, the ‘La La La’ singer doesn’t seem to reciprocate the feeling. In fact, an insider told Us Weekly, "Shakira is not interested in having anything romantic with Tom. She doesn't want to date him, or anyone else, because she's focused on her kids and her career.... For now.”
Another source close to Shakira told Heat magazine in May, "They talk. But there is no attraction or romance on her part. Shakira is just friendly with him. She's flattered by his interest, but she doesn't want anything more.” It was also told during the time that Shakira did not want to embarrass or upset Cruise. But she neither wanted to carry forward with the relationship.
'It was a huge dent to Tom’s ego'
While according to the sources Shakira made her disinterest clear, the ‘Knight and Day’ star did not take the rejection clearly. According to Mirror, it came as a surprise as a source close to Cruise said that he shared with close friends that he and Shakira “had incredible chemistry and taking it as a slam dunk they’d be dating in no time".
However, things went differently when the ‘She Wolf’ crooner was spotted spending time with F1 driver Lewis Hamilton during the Spanish Grand Prix. A source close to Cruise said that the incident caused a “dent” in his ego as he was sidelined for his “buddy” Hamilton. The source said to Radar Online as reported by Mirror, “It was a huge dent to Tom’s ego,” before adding, “It stung all the more because he considers Lewis a buddy.”
