NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ host Craig Melvin has once again captivated morning show viewers with his witty humor.
On Wednesday, October 11, 'Today' host Craig Melvin celebrated Cake Day, sharing a video on his Instagram where he flaunted his knife skills.
This followed a recent on-air blunder when, during a Superfood segment, Melvin playfully teased co-host Al Roker, who was visibly frustrated.
Roker told Melvin, "You're walking in front of the camera," expressing his irritation.
Craig Melvin hilariously celebrates 'Wednesday Cake Day'
On Wednesday, Craig Melvin delighted viewers by sharing a behind-the-scenes Instagram video featuring him treating his co-stars to slices of cake.
In the clip, he humorously wielded a giant knife stuck in the center of the dessert, resembling a dagger.
Melvin introduced the moment by saying, "Craig Melvin here, with Caroline’s Cakes from South Carolina. It’s Wednesday Cake Day here at the 'Today' show. I’m gonna surprise some folks with a little slice of heaven."
With impressive finesse, Melvin skillfully balanced the cake in one hand while deftly slicing pieces for his coworkers with the other. His skills were further demonstrated as he used the knife's surface to support each cake slice before placing it on a plate.
He captioned the post, “Nothing makes people happy like cake!”
However, Katie Stilo, a culinary producer and food stylist at ‘Today’, appeared to be less than pleased with the unfolding scene.
She told Melvin looking concerned, “Craig, the knife in the middle is a little violent looking!”

As the complexity of the daring cake-cutting act became apparent, correspondent Vicky Nguyen offered her praise, saying, "I love this so much - also your cake-cutting on-the-go skills are impressive."
In response, Melvin expressed his gratitude with a simpl, "Thank you, Vicky!!"
Meanwhile, Arianna G Davis, the editorial director at ‘Today’ show digital, playfully inquired, "So you just happened to skip my office huh?"

However, before showing off his knife-weilding skills, Craig Melvin accidentally broke viral senstion Halloween pumpkin, Lewis’ right arm.
A short clip of the mishap was posted on the official Instagram of ‘Today’ show with the caption, “When you spend days trying to book viral sensation Lewis and then Craig accidentally breaks his arm."
In the video, Melvin was seen standing next to 8-foot-tall Lewis adorned with a pumpkin-shaped head. As he stepped away from the decoration, he said, “Lewis has got a broken arm!”
But he claimed, “I didn’t do it on purpose!” while reassuring everything that the mishap was unintentional.
