'She's a brand': Jennifer Lopez SLAMMED for changing her famous surname to Affleck after wedding
Jennifer Lopez was slammed for changing her surname after marrying Ben Affleck on Saturday, July 16, as the hosts of Australian breakfast show 'Today Extra' were stunned to find out her middle name. Jennifer, 52, and Ben, 49, took the holy vows in Las Vegas just three months after getting engaged for a second time and nearly two decades after the 'Daredevil' star first proposed her.
The couple, who has been dubbed 'Bennifer', reportedly obtained a marriage license in Clark County, Nevada on Saturday and tied the knot in a "super small" ceremony. JLo made waves after it emerged she would be taking Affleck's last name, with documents from the Clark County Recorder's Office indicating she will be changing her name to 'Jennifer Affleck.'

The revelation came as 'Today Extra' hosts David Campbell and Sylvia Jeffries were chatting with their guests, TV star Shelly Horton and radio host Ben Fordham. "This is her fourth marriage, she should learn not to change her name," Shelly complained. "Women don't need to give up their identity just because they get married. She of anyone should know that. She's a brand."
"Whatever happened to love, Shelly?" David responded.
"What about respecting women and their own choices. This is JLo's choice," Ben offered. "I was happy for her, why can't you be happy for her? She's a woman making her own choices. Shelly, because you are wearing glasses, it doesn't make you smart," he quipped.
That said, the hosts were also stunned to learn that the pop star's middle name is Lynn.
"She is Jennifer Lyn Affleck, Lynn is not what I expected in the middle name!" David commented. "No, no!" Sylvia agreed.
Many on social media were equally surprised at Jennifer changing her surname to Affleck. "This tradition is sexist," one tweeted.
"Why would she change her name? Why would they get married if they don’t have kids together? What’s the point other than attention?" another wondered.
"I guess she has to use “Lynn” to clarify which Jennifer Affleck she is. Awkward..." someone else quipped, referring to Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
"It doesn’t hit the same," another chimed in.

Some, however, embraced the singer's adopted surname and wished the new couple well.
"SHE CHANGED HER LEGAL NAME TO JENNIFER AFFLECK. LOVE IS REAL," one gushed.
"I’m not a fan of theirs…but damn, it’s their lives, they can do whatever they want. If you’re mad, you’re jealous," another opined.
"That's actually very cute and thoughtful, good for them," someone else wrote.
