ZURICH, SWITZERLAND: Tina Turner's touching final photo showed the 'Queen of Rock' at home in her sweatpants awaiting the release of her then-upcoming HBO documentary 'Tina'. The music icon who had been struggling with several health issues for years died at the age of 83 at her $76 million mansion in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

In her last photograph, which was posted on Twitter in March 2021, the singer could be seen reliving "some of the proudest moments" of her life as she is seen cheering for the documentary nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards. "Only 5 days left! This Saturday, the documentary ‘TINA’ will be released. I am so excited to share this movie with you – seeing the concert scenes made me relive some of the proudest moments of my life. I simply had to sing along and dance around my living room!" Turner tweeted.

Turner's 'boundless passion for life'

The legendary performer had a famed career as a singer and actress spanning six decades in which she struggled in both her personal and professional life. With more than 100 million records sold worldwide and 12 Grammy Awards won for her music, her documentary was considered a farewell to her fans from around the world, according to New York Post.

On Wednesday, May 24, a statement was shared on her Instagram account to announce her death. "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow," read the statement.

"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly," the statement concluded.



 

'I have put myself in great danger'

The 'Proud Mary' singer died of natural causes. She had several ailments including kidney failure and intestinal cancer. In honor of International World Kidney Day on March 9, the beloved star took to Instagram to reveal that she put herself in "great danger". In the post shared just months before her death, Turner wrote, "My kidneys are victims of my not realizing that my high blood pressure should have been treated with conventional medicine."

"I have put myself in great danger by refusing to face the reality that I need daily, lifelong therapy with medication. For far too long I believed that my body was an untouchable and indestructible bastion," she added.
