ZURICH, SWITZERLAND: Tina Turner revealed the secret behind a life well-lived just a few weeks before her death on Wednesday, May 24. In an interview with British Vogue published on April 14, the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll shared how she successfully lived life to the fullest despite all the challenges she endured. “What does well-lived mean?” Turner asked the publication at the time.

“My life has been full, but with lots of sad times that I now forgive and strive to forget,” she added. “Maybe that’s the answer: to keep moving forward, to let go and aim to fill your life with love. That is where I am now, and I am grateful,” she told British Vogue. A rep for Turner told The Telegraph that the singer died at her home in Zurich, Switzerland. No immediate cause of her death was revealed but it was announced that she died aged 83 after her battle with a “long illness.”

‘I’m always curious’

During the interview, Turner also spoke about her love for holistic treatments and shared what keeps her “young.” “I am open to alternative therapies,” she said. “I believe we only know a fraction of what is out there and I’m always curious, ready to explore and learn more. That keeps me young!” the legendary rock artist added.

Meanwhile, she also spoke about the advice she would give to her younger self. “I would tell myself to stay strong and continue wanting more and fighting for it all! It will come, and it will be worth the wait!” Turner said. The singer also revealed the rituals that help her to relax and said, “I love spending days in Switzerland with my husband (Erwin) driving into the mountains.” Turner added, “It’s relaxing and very spiritual to be surrounded by the lake and beautiful nature.”

‘I do treasure my privacy now’

At the time, Turner also shared her thoughts about social media. “After so many years in the public eye, I do treasure my privacy now, but I think if I was younger I’m sure I would have loved being able to see all the musicians I admired and follow the fashion around the world,” she told British Vogue. “I do think the daily pressures on artists now are so much greater as a result – there is nowhere to catch your breath and centre in private,” the singer mentioned.
