TikTok star, model and dancer Siya Kakkar commits suicide at age 16, social media mourns
Popular TikTok star Siya Kakkar has reportedly taken her own life. The 16-year-old Kakkar's manager Arjun Sarin took to social media to confirm the tragic news on Thursday, June 25. He shared a picture of Kakkar along with the words 'RIP' written all across the image. The star was famous for posting videos of herself making dance moves to music and movie tracks.
He captioned the post, "No more words. You will always be the best artist. Rest in Peace." It has been reported that the social media star committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in New Delhi on Thursday. Sarin had also said, "This must be due to something personal...workwise she was doing well. I had a word with her last night for a new project and she sounded normal. My company Fame Experts and me manage lots of artistes and Siya was a bright talent," he said according to an India Today report.
Many of her followers commented on the post and expressed their grief. One fan shared, "RIP rest in Peace there Are NO Words to describe this Stunning Young Woman. she Will Sadly Be Missed." Another added, "Rip Siya You were my fav. and you’ll be missed." Yet another wrote, "I'm so sorry to hear this. I have no idea who she was but it’s so sad to hear a young person has taken their life. Too bad she didn’t get help. Life is so short and life is so beautiful to live what God has given us. But sometimes people have issues. I’m sorry for her family and their loss. May she RIP."
The reason why she took this drastic step is currently not known. As the news of her untimely death spread, social media users was left shocked and sad. The teenager had a fan base of around 1 million on TikTok. Reports reveal that Kakkar's last TikTok video was uploaded not more than 20 hours before she took her life. Photographer Viral Bhayani took to Instagram to share, "Sad news 16- year old sweet tik-toker @siya_kakkar died by suicide."
"Before publishing this I spoke to her Talent management agency head Arjun Sarin who spoke to her last night for a song collaboration and he says she was in a good mood and perfectly alright," Bhayani wrote. "Even he has no clue what went wrong that she had to go this way, it’s really sad that she chose this path. If you are feeling depressed, please don’t do this," he continued.
"You go through her videos and you can she was so good in her content," he said. Kakkar also has more than 200,000 followers on Instagram with many of her fans paying tribute to her on social media. According to DU Express, she had been reportedly threatened by some people. The police are investigating the matter and are yet to determine why she committed suicide.
The DCP spoke to India Today Television and said, "Siya died by suicide at her residence in New Delhi at around 9 pm on June 25. She lived with her family. Her family is in shock and has requested privacy. No suicide note has been recovered." It has also been reported that the police will be questioning authorities as well as her close friends in order to try and find clues about her untimely death. Delhi Police say that Kakkar had been depressed in the days leading up to her death.
