Meghan Markle's father Thomas may stand to give evidence against his own daughter in a legal case, it was revealed.

The estranged father of Meghan is likely to be called in as a key witness for the defense in a court case she had brought up against a newspaper. 75-year-old Thomas has given lawyers never-seen-before text messages that were exchanged in the lead to Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry.

Some of the messages were detailed out in defense papers filed at the High Court in London. As per the documents, Thomas had messaged Meghan saying that he could not come to the wedding as he had been rushed to the hospital for an emergency heart surgery and was told that he could not fly for health reasons.

He then received a text that seemed to be from Prince Harry where he was accused of causing hurt to his daughter and was never asked about his health. In response to the message, Thomas had written, "I've done nothing to hurt you Meghan or anyone else … I'm sorry my heart attack is … any inconvenience for you."

Meghan had decided to take legal action against the Daily Mail last year after the publication put out extracts of a letter that she had written to her father. Meghan accused the paper of breaching her privacy, her data protection rights, and her copyright. The defense papers had also claimed that Thomas only released the letter to the world to show that the letter was not as 'loving' as Meghan's pals had made it out to be.

He had also kept the handwritten note private for months and only revealed to expose false claims. Thomas also claimed to have made many attempts to contact his daughter since he had told her he was too ill to attend the wedding. He had never met Prince Harry or the couple's baby, Archie.
