LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: AMC's 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live' witnesses a major twist for the protagonists in Episode 4.

Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), who had been separated since the ninth season of the original 'The Walking Dead' series, had a bittersweet reunion in the latest spin-off.

Despite finally finding each other, they couldn't safely be together without risking their lives. Episode 4 presents them with a chance to reunite and be together at last.

In the previous episode, we witnessed Rick and Michonne, now part of CRM, were on their way back to base in a helicopter after the Cascadia operation when they encountered a storm.

Taking advantage of the situation, Michonne made a quick decision and jumped off the helicopter, pulling Rick with her.

Initially angry at Michonne for forcing him out, Rick's feelings quickly shifted to gratitude when they saw that the helicopter had crashed due to the storm.

The sight of their helicopter engulfed in flames after crashing into a high-rise building makes them realize that if they had stayed on board, they would have died.

Rick has been worried about the safety of Michonne, his daughter, and people of Alexandria, knowing that CRM would pursue them once they discover his escape.

However, witnessing the helicopter crash makes them realize that CRM would now believe they died in the accident, offering them a chance to evade.

As anticipated, CRM arrives to locate their soldiers and assumes they died in the crash. However, they launch an attack to obliterate the helicopter in flames.

This action is driven by the organization's relentless pursuit of secrecy, a fundamental goal repeatedly emphasized.

While it initially appears to be a successful evasion from CRM for Rick and Michonne, the question arises: Is it truly an escape?

CRM is a formidable entity, and Jadis Stokes (Pollyanna McIntosh) is well aware of the couple's capabilities. Even when Rick doubted himself, Jadis quietly acknowledged that together, he and Michonne could achieve anything.

It might be difficult for her to accept their supposed death in the crash, given her prior speculation about their escape plans.

Four episodes of 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live' are available to stream on AMC+
