At first, Rick expresses anger towards Michonne for forcibly bringing him along, insisting that he should return to the Civic Republic to protect their loved ones from potential danger.

However, his perspective shifts when he witnesses the catastrophic crash of their helicopter into a building, realizing they narrowly escaped death by jumping in time.

Rick and Michonne also recognize that the crash will lead the CRM to believe they died in the incident, which indeed occurs when another CRM helicopter locates the wreckage and incinerates it to erase traces of the organization's existence.

This turn of events presents the perfect opportunity for Rick and Michonne to safely return to Alexandria.
