The Walking Dead’ is into its final season and we are seeing a lot of characters making a return. Last week, it was Leah (Lynn Collins), who surprisingly showed up in an episode that was all about Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and the dog. But her return was really cool. It was really amazing to see a character returning in full form and most importantly, she is on the side of the negative people, aka The Reapers.

But it seems, the makers of ‘TWD’ are teasing another return and if this character comes back, then it is going to be one of the coolest things on the show. In episode 5 of the ongoing season, we start with Aaron (Ross Marquand) having a dream or we should say a nightmare, in which he is seen fighting against enemies like the Reapers, the Whisperers, and also, the zombies.

'The Walking Dead' Season 11 Episode 4: Daryl shocked by unexpected return

The sequence sees him fighting his foes and doing his best to protect Gracie. However, the number of villains surrounding him keeps on increasing, and there comes a time when he is outnumbered. Eventually, he is stabbed to death before he jumps out of his sleep. However, the most intriguing thing about the scene was the ending part and the face it showed. The face shown in the ending was none other than Mays (Robert Patrick). He was one of the characters who held Aaron and Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) captive in Season 10. Mays tortured them on Season 10 and even killed his brother, along with his family, for stealing food.

Even though, we saw Mays being killed in the last season. It won’t come as a surprise if he pops up again. But we know that Aaron is still having a hard time not thinking about what Mays did to him. So, these nightmares seem to be natural.

Elsewhere, we get a glimpse of the Commonwealth, and Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Princess (Paola Lazaro), Ezekiel (Khary Peyton), and Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) are given their work assignments. Meanwhile, at Alexandria, the entire group is still in need of supplies. However, everything becomes even more intense when a steel wall breaks and the undead barge in. So, Aaron, Lydia (Cassady McClincy), Jerry (Cooper Andrews), and Carol (Melissa McBride) try to take all the necessary items with them and run to the ruins of Hilltop. On the other hand, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) are at the Meridian and Maggie believes that they need to wait here for the others to arrive. But Negan says that they need to go to Alexandria and help them. He is stopped in his tracks by Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari) and Gabriel, who believe it is dangerous to go there now.

The episode ends with Aaron, Carol, and the entire group arriving at the hilltop and seeing everything burnt down to the ground. They fight against the undead and get to know that they are being administered by The Whisperers. Aaron loses his mind and catches the shepherd to talk about their intentions.

The scene shows how humans are living in an apocalypse and how some of them are still on the verge of becoming insane.

It's a brilliant episode with mind-blowing action and even though we don’t get to see Daryl much in this episode, it is so beautifully crafted that you won’t realize that he is not in it.

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 11 returns to AMC with a new episode every Sunday at 10 pm EST.
