'The Voice' Season 25 fans slam NBC over 'The Masked Singer' style performance from Bryan, Maddi, and Nathan

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: During the semi-final on Monday, May 13th, the top nine contestants from Season 25 of 'The Voice' teamed up for trio performances inspired by the upcoming movie 'If'. However, fans expressed dissatisfaction with Maddi Jane, Bryan Olesen, and Nathan Chester's rendition of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven."

It's an intriguing combo. However, Nathan's and Maddi's vocals didn't quite match the song's vibe, while Bryan's did. Additionally, the animal head masks and carnival imagery in the backdrop gave it more of a 'Masked Singer' feel rather than 'The Voice'.

Bryan's vocals were overdone, Nathan failed to satisfy the song's oomph requirement, and Maddi pitched as hard as a baseball pitcher.

On X, one fan wrote, "Shameful production." While another person asked, "What the hell was that?"

One fan called it, "Awful," while another added, "Painful, embarrassing. Proof again that @NBCTheVoice is a game show. Where bad things happen to desperate (sometimes talented) singers."

One fan asked, "WHAT is happening tonight with this Masked Singer-style Cure cover? I am confused and amused and bemused and I kind of hate it but also kind of love it." Another person added, "I can do without this especially the creepy masked backup dancers."

Maddi was homeschooled by her psychology doctorate-holding parents and received her upbringing mostly from Christian Youth Theater, which shaped her love for the arts. At the age of 11, Maddi uploaded a rendition of The Script's "Breakeven" to YouTube, which rapidly gained traction, garnering millions of views per day and capturing the attention of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'.

Her renditions of Jessie J's "Price Tag" and Shontelle's "Impossible" have received a total of 180 million views, and her channel has amassed 1.55 million members and 450+ million views. Each video she released became even more viral than the one before it. 

After a while, Maddi relocated to Los Angeles, where she established a recording studio in her basement. There, she continued her journey of creating original music and participating in writing camps, producing music for herself and others.

Maddi's debut album, "Rapha," has recently been released to great acclaim, amassing over 300,000 listens. Her success has led to several concert appearances, including a notable performance at SXSW. Maddi intends to tour, release her second studio album, and make an appearance on Season 25 of 'The Voice' in 2024.

From the tender age of three, Nathan was primarily raised by his single mother, with minimal involvement from his father. Despite his father's inconsistent presence in his life and the delayed introduction to his father's half-siblings, Nathan has made a concerted effort to maintain connections with his entire family.
