'The Voice' Season 25 fans slam NBC over 'The Masked Singer' style performance from Bryan, Maddi, and Nathan
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: During the semi-final on Monday, May 13th, the top nine contestants from Season 25 of 'The Voice' teamed up for trio performances inspired by the upcoming movie 'If'. However, fans expressed dissatisfaction with Maddi Jane, Bryan Olesen, and Nathan Chester's rendition of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven."
It's an intriguing combo. However, Nathan's and Maddi's vocals didn't quite match the song's vibe, while Bryan's did. Additionally, the animal head masks and carnival imagery in the backdrop gave it more of a 'Masked Singer' feel rather than 'The Voice'.

During the first of the evening's random trio performances, inspired by the film 'If', the participants brought three distinct flavors to 'The Cure's classic, none of which resonated well with the audience. Bryan's vocals were overdone, Nathan failed to satisfy the song's oomph requirement, and Maddi pitched as hard as a baseball pitcher.
On X, one fan wrote, "Shameful production." While another person asked, "What the hell was that?"
One fan called it, "Awful," while another added, "Painful, embarrassing. Proof again that @NBCTheVoice is a game show. Where bad things happen to desperate (sometimes talented) singers."

One fan asked, "WHAT is happening tonight with this Masked Singer-style Cure cover? I am confused and amused and bemused and I kind of hate it but also kind of love it." Another person added, "I can do without this especially the creepy masked backup dancers."

Who is Bryan Olesen in 'The Voice' Season 25?
Bryan juggled various odd jobs to support his musical aspirations until he received a surprising opportunity to join the rock group Newsboys as their guitarist for an international tour.
Following this experience, he turned his attention to his band, VOTA, utilizing their music to advocate for important causes such as combatting human trafficking and fostering connections with survivors of school shootings.
By releasing records in support of a campaign led by an NGO, the band took proactive steps and managed to raise over $180,000. This funding was instrumental in constructing border ports in Nepal, ultimately saving the lives of approximately 700 women.
Bryan confronted the challenges of his divorce after 24 years of marriage and saw it as a pivotal moment in his life. With his newfound independence and resolve at nearly fifty, he views it as a chance to make a difference.
Who is Maddi Jane in 'The Voice' Season 25?
Maddi was homeschooled by her psychology doctorate-holding parents and received her upbringing mostly from Christian Youth Theater, which shaped her love for the arts. At the age of 11, Maddi uploaded a rendition of The Script's "Breakeven" to YouTube, which rapidly gained traction, garnering millions of views per day and capturing the attention of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'.
Her renditions of Jessie J's "Price Tag" and Shontelle's "Impossible" have received a total of 180 million views, and her channel has amassed 1.55 million members and 450+ million views. Each video she released became even more viral than the one before it.
After a while, Maddi relocated to Los Angeles, where she established a recording studio in her basement. There, she continued her journey of creating original music and participating in writing camps, producing music for herself and others.
Maddi's debut album, "Rapha," has recently been released to great acclaim, amassing over 300,000 listens. Her success has led to several concert appearances, including a notable performance at SXSW. Maddi intends to tour, release her second studio album, and make an appearance on Season 25 of 'The Voice' in 2024.
Who is Nathan Chester in 'The Voice' Season 25?
From the tender age of three, Nathan was primarily raised by his single mother, with minimal involvement from his father. Despite his father's inconsistent presence in his life and the delayed introduction to his father's half-siblings, Nathan has made a concerted effort to maintain connections with his entire family.
In his early years, Nathan's brother Michael played a pivotal role in igniting his interest in singing and playing the guitar. As his passion for performance expanded in high school, his closest friend introduced him to musical theater.
Nathan now has the opportunity to travel to destinations around the globe, thanks to his successful career as a professional singer on cruise ships. Interestingly, Nathan's partner, Emily, entered his life unexpectedly when they met while working on the same cruise ship.
Two years later, fate reunited them on the same cruise ship, reigniting their connection and blossoming into a romantic relationship. Presently, they aspire to expand their venture by organizing numerous events exclusively for cruise lines.
'The Voice' Season 25 airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm PT/ET on NBC.
