Carter Rubin has never ceased to impress coaches and fans with his incredible vocals on 'The Voice'. From shocking the coaches with his blind audition performance to winning over fans with his consistently amazing voice, Carter has managed to become one of the frontrunners on the hit singing competition show.

Carter's beautiful voice and great song selection in the earlier rounds managed to get the 15-year-old a spot on the coveted top-five list. After watching Carter's performances, fans began rooting for him and declaring that his coach Gwen Stefani might secure her first win on the show thanks to him. So everybody had high expectations from Carter when it came to his finale performance.

For the finale the contestants had to give two performances one song would be a cover of a song of their choice, and another one would be their very own single, written and performed by the contestant! Carter kicked off the finale round by performing to Miley Cyrus's 'The Climb'. Speaking to the show's host Carson Daly Carter explained why he picked Miley's iconic song for his final performance.

While reminiscing his journey on the show Carter revealed how he was just hoping to make it through the blind auditions round and never expected to make it this far in the competition. He then thanked his coach Gwen for mentoring and guiding him while also ensuring that he understood that the journey was as important as the destination. So, to pay homage to his coach, he picked 'The Climb'.

When Carter finally got on the stage and gave his performance the coaches were beyond impressed with the young singer's vocals. Blake Shelton gave him a standing ovation while Gwen broke into tears with pride over her protege's beautiful performance. Unfortunately, while the coaches loved Carter's performance, fans weren't as impressed with his cover.

Several fans took to Twitter to express how Carter's performance wasn't as good as his earlier performances on the show. A fan tweeted, "#TheVoice Carter Rubin is great (& a definite contender for winner) but that wasn't his best performance. His voice sounded really thin during a lot of it." Another fan wrote, "Carter - The Climb Thought he struggled with this. Don't think his voice suited the song. The lower parts were pitchy. #TheVoice #VoiceFinale." "Agreed -- carter has an amazing voice but that performance was a tiny bit boring #TheVoice," echoed a fan.
