LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Minority Senate leader Mitch McConnell made headlines recently after he froze in the middle of a press conference. McConnell had to be escorted away by his staff, and it was clarified that he was doing fine but felt lightheaded at the moment. Several celebrities took to social media to send their get-well-soon wishes his way, including ‘The View’ host Ana Navarro.

After Navarro’s tweet on July 26, 2023, where she hoped he was well despite disagreeing with him, ‘The View’ co-host tweeted once again about McConnell on July 27, and the internet wasn’t pleased with Navarro. Navarro defended McConnell amid a potential health scare and faced severe backlash for the same.

‘He disdains Trump like I do’

After Navarro gauged the internet’s reaction to McConnell freezing up during the news conference, she took to Twitter and defended him while wishing him well once again. Navarro wrote, “A lot of folks are not fans of @LeaderMcConnell. I get it. I hate his stunts re SCOTUS. But you know what, he disdains Trump like I do. Unlike McCarthy, he hasn’t cowered, kissed his a**, and tried to normalize him. I appreciate that. And I wish him well.” It didn’t take long for the internet to respond to Navarro and McConnell, who was tagged her in her tweet, which also mentioned Donald Trump.

‘Give me break’

The internet users focused on Navarro’s statement that McConnell hated Trump as much as she did, which made them think that is the only reason Navarro wished him well. One person wrote, “So, you wish him well because of his disdain of Donald Trump? I know you think this tweet makes you out to be a kind and empathetic person, but really, it doesn't.” Another also said, “Lmao you only wish people well who hate trump as much as you do? What a life you live.”

One user also pointed out ‘selective memory’ in relation to McConnell as they tweeted, “I hope he’s okay but he doesn’t get a pass because he disliked Trump. McConnell is responsible for A LOT of what we see now in the Republican party. His actions opened the doors for Trump, MTG, etc to walk through. Republicans do this though. Y’all have selective memory of people.”

The internet slammed Navarro on all fronts in regard to the tweet. One person wrote, “No fan of that evil man. He hasn't redeemed himself in any manner.” Another user was convinced that Navarro joked in her tweet as they wrote, “You have to be joking, Ana.” One user tweeted, “Give me a break. I hope Karma gets him.”
