Here's what Strange's third eye at the end of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' means
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In another tale of finding a little speck of element in the web of Marvel conspiracies, we will get into the depth of the interconnected story of 'Doctor Strange' (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his evil variant doppelganger Sinister Strange. 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' came out last year in May and was nothing like the usual Marvel movie.
The movie was directed by Sam Raimi, and looking through the periscope of the vast sea of movies that have been directed by him, one common element stands out to be the thrill and horror that comes with it. 'Doctor Strange 2' reflected scary elements and ended on a cliffhanger of confusion, fright, and tons of questions. One of the creepier depictions we saw was 'Doctor Strange' with a third eye on his forehead. Strange has been able to use his spells to bind opponents and create complex shields and barriers, among many other uses for both defense and attack.

Who is the evil variant of Doctor Strange?
Fans were wondering who the villain of 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' would be and as it turned out it was his own evil variant who lives in the multiverse. The name of the variant is Sinister Strange and he is a variant of Earth-199999's Doctor Strange, who was unable to live a life without his love, Christine Palmer. Having lost Christine from his world, he began using Darkhold to travel through multiple universes and possess variants of himself that suffered from being alone without Christine, driving them to suicide. The evil use of the Darkhold drove him to madness and plunged his world into pure chaos. Sinister Strange meets with his heroic counterpart when Scarlett Witch sends Doctor Strange to the chaos-stricken world of Sinister Strange.
What is the significance of the third eye?
At the end of 'Doctor Strange 2' we saw him possess a third eye. Many fans were quite perplexed when that happened and dug deep to find answers about the significance of it. The only other character to possess this eye is Sinister Strange, who received this eye after he used Darkhold to walk into multiple universes. The significance of the third eye is that it is the possession of sorcerer Agamotto and his fellow Vishanti, which was given to Doctor Strange, and which enables anybody with good intentions and devoid of corruption to see its enemies' true intentions and break magical illusions. The mind-blowing fact is that the third eye wasn't invented for the movie, but exists in the original 'Doctor Strange' comics.
However, the significance of the third eye might differ in the universe of Marvel movies, as Doctor Strange's third eye appeared unmediated soon after he used the Darkhold. The thing to remember about the Darkhold is that it corrupts anyone who uses it, despite them being powerful and pure. While the Darkhold was the last resort for Doctor Strange to stop Scarlet Witch, it doesn't explain why his body grew a third eye. While the Ancient One commanded Strange to open his third eye in the first movie, it suggests that it might be beneficial to the plot. The whole saga can also lead to a conclusion of developing a special ability that only sorcerers as powerful and as pure as Strange and Vishanti can prowess.
