'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' just got a whole lot more exciting with news breaking that 'Spider-Man' and 'Evil Dead' director Sam Raimi is in talks to direct the movie. Fans are understandably excited about Raimi joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Quite a few have been taking to Twitter to celebrate the news and here is what they've been saying.

"If Kevin Feige is smart, he'll get Sam Raimi and let him do what he wants with Doctor Strange 2," one fan tweeted. "Sam's name alone will bring in tons of people who have given up on the MCU and fans of the og SM trilogy. This could literally be a turning point for the MCU," the fan added.

Another fan wrote: "Sam Raimi directing Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse of Madness is a real life metaphor that good does win sometimes and during shitty times, we have to look at the bigger picture. Give me this film!"

One fan actually pointed out a Doctor Strange easter egg in Raimi's first 'Spider-Man' movie, which just became oddly prophetic considering the new developments. "In Spider-Man 1, Ted Raimi's character wanted to call Spider-Man 'Doctor Strange'," the fan wrote. "Sam Raimi is now in talks to direct Doctor Strange 2. Coincidence? Yes."

"So, Sam Raimi's possibly directing Doctor Strange 2," another fan tweeted. "My interest in the film went from that being the only thing in the MCU I’m interested in to the only thing in the MCU I will ever be interested in post-phase 3."

"Lots of people sad about Kirk Douglas and happy/mad about Trump," yet another fan wrote. "I figure the less said about those the better, so I'm just gonna sit over here and be excited about Sam Raimi directing Doctor Strange 2."

'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' is scheduled for release on May 7, 2021.
