Jonathan Fraser (Hugh Grant), an oncologist who had everyone believe he was an upright, responsible and warm person, is keeping secrets from his wife Grace Fraser (Nicole Kidman) and their son Henry Fraser (Noah Jupe) in 'The Undoing'. At the beginning of episode 2, we see Grace learn that her husband may not have gone to Cleveland after all, and she tries to check with her son Henry if he had heard anything at all from his father. Turns out, Jonathan had bid his son goodbye, however, unlike usual times, he came to see Henry in his room despite him being half asleep.

The warning bell in Grace's head makes her look at everything with suspicion. She is sure that her husband is hiding something from her and next morning decides to visit his hospital. There, she meets a fellow doctor who seems extremely hesitant to share any information about her husband and tells her that he is bound by rules and will not be able to reveal anything to her.

Right after, she heads out to her father's place with Henry where detectives Joe Mendoza and Paul O'Rourke approach her to get some information. They claim that it would be easier done at the precinct than anywhere else and once she accompanies them, she learns some shocking truths. She is also treated more like a suspect than a witness and senses something being off about the entire conversation. First, she is asked where her husband was and when she tries to explain how she has not been able to get in touch with him, she is asked where he worked. When she gives them the information regarding the hospital, the cops are surprised and tell her that her husband was fired from his position months ago for inappropriate contact with a patient's relative.

And what would you tell if the patient in question was none other than Miguel Alves, Elena Alves' son? That's right! Turns out Jonathan knew Elena from before and all of this only points at Jonathan being the murderer. Grace is caught off guard, and as a result, is not ready to be treated like a pariah by the very people who wanted to become her friends because news of her husband being the prime suspect has spread within Reardon.

This also means that Henry will not be able to pursue his education in peace. Grace speaks to her friend Sylvia about her situation as she is a lawyer and to her surprise, she learns that the woman who had complained about Jonathan could very well be Elena because he had approached Sylvia to appear as his lawyer. Sylvia then tells Grace that the evidence was more than enough for him to get fired. The reason she had not informed Grace of the proceedings was because Jonathan had called her to inform that the charges against him had been dropped.

So she too was not aware that Jonathan had lost his job. She advises Grace to inform the cops if she were to learn about Jonathan's whereabouts, to ensure that she and Henry are not treated unfairly by the system or the media.

Grace also decides to take her father's advice to visit the beach house till things quietened down. It is there, much to her shock, she meets Jonathan again. Turns out, he had decided to hide at the beach house. Initially, he scared the sh** out of her by appearing in front of her at dawn and then begging her to let him explain what really happened.

He claims that he did have an affair with Elena, but things went out of hand as Elena got obsessed with him and his family including Grace. So he helped her get her son Miguel into Reardon hoping for all of it to stop but instead she ended up encroaching into his personal life. This scared Jonathan into confronting her at her studio. He, quite awkwardly claims that after a round of arguing, the two of them had sex and he left right after to collect himself, however, when he returned to speak to her, he found her dead. He was scared and fled from the scene.

Sure, that could have happened. However, what did Jonathan do next? He arrived home, climbed into bed with his wife leading her to believe that he had lost a patient and the two end up making love. This seems like the last straw because right then Grace ends up calling the cops. Can she trust Jonathan again after all the lies that he has told her? We would have to wait and see.

New episodes of 'The Undoing' will air on Sundays at 9 pm ET on HBO.
