'The Tamron Hall Show': Drag queen Sherry Pie to guest star, fans beg host to not promote 'sexual predator'
Tamron Hall is currently facing backlash on Twitter after revealing the forthcoming guests’ list on her talk show ‘The Tamron Hall Show’. Hall tweeted that on Tuesday, February 16, 202, controversial drag queen Sherry Pie will come as a guest.
Sherry Pie, whose birth name is Joey Gugliemelli, had reportedly spent many years posing as a casting director. In 2020, Sherry was disqualified from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 12 after reports surfaced that she had catfished several actors over email and tricked them into filming themselves doing sexual acts and sending it to her. Now that Hall has confirmed that Sherry will appear on her show, many are slamming the host and calling her not to give a platform to known predators.

Who is Sherry Pie?
Sherry was born November 14, 1991, and was one of the contestants in ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’. She was alleged to have deceived her former classmate at SUNY Cortland in New York and actors she worked with at a Nebraska theater company. After the reports surfaced, Sherry took to her Facebook handle to apologize to everyone for causing trauma and pain. At that time, she added that she was “seeking help and receiving treatment”.
“I truly apologize to everyone I have hurt with my actions,” Sherry wrote. “I also want to say how sorry I am to my sisters of season 12 and honestly the whole network and production company.”
“Sherry Pie doesn’t deserve any sort of redemption”
‘The Tamron Hall Show’ is centered around in-depth conversations about various topics, including but not limited to the latest fashion trends, tackling today’s most challenging parenting and marital struggles, and others. Hall, 50, tries to bring together her experience from different projects in one spot in her talk show.
After Hall tweeted that her new guest would be Sherry Pie, many people started to slam her. Jackie Cox, a competitor on the twelfth season of ‘RuPaul's Drag Race’, has called on to ‘The Tamron Hall Show’ to reconsider their decision for giving Sherry a platform to share her side of the story. In follow-up tweets, Cox claimed that Sherry manipulated several men into filming sexual acts and putting their bodies in physical danger by coercing them to use steroids. Cox wrote: "I am publicly calling on @TamronHallShow to reconsider giving Sherry Pie access to the platform of national television to tell their side of the story without first speaking with the victims of her abuses and allowing them to weigh in on their own trauma. Being a performer and public persona is not a right, it is a privilege. Sherry relinquished this privilege by their actions. Giving Sherry a spotlight without the forethought to reach out to victims is irresponsible, immoral, & wrong. I stand with the victims of Sherry’s actions.

Following Cox's tweets, several social media users started to slam 'The Tamron Hall Show' for reportedly providing a platform to someone who catfished young actors. One user wrote: "I am a survivor of child molestation and sexual assault as an adult. Listen to survivors. I am shocked that a television program would give someone who manipulated & used their power to sexually abuse others a platform. Please @tamronhall reconsider having Sherry Pie on the show". Another tweeted: "The conversation should center around survivors, not around our perpetrators. We deplatform Matt Lauer, Harvey Weinstein, and Marilyn Manson because we recognize their capacity for violence." Another user resonated similar emotions: "Don’t give the platform to a sexual predator. If anything, talk to the victims. Sherry Pie doesn’t deserve any sort of redemption, and the victims have said they don’t want this aired."

As per a tweet by Ben Shimkus, who first exposed Sherry, he spoke with the producers of 'The Tamron Show' only to learn that they are going to air Sherry Pie's episode. Ben wrote: "Just so we are all clear on this, I spoke with producers at @TamronHallShow and told them that I and the 20 victims that I spoke to today DO NOT want them to air a segment with Sherry Pie. They're going to air it despite the all of our requests."
