Actor Tom Hanks is all set to host a 90-minute primetime TV special celebrating the inauguration of Joe Biden as president of the United States. As soon as the Internet got to know about this, an old picture from a popular animated show, 'The Simpsons' started doing the rounds. In the picture, Tom Hanks's animated character can be seen passing a statement on the US government's "credibility."

Hanks will be hosting a 90-minute “Celebrating America” special that will feature appearances by celebrities including Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato Justin Timberlake and Ant Clemons, according to a statement from Biden’s inaugural committee. The television special “will showcase the American people’s resilience, heroism, and unified commitment to coming together as a nation to heal and rebuild”, the inaugural committee said.

The old photo that resurfaced was posted by one Internet user saying, "HOW DO THE SIMPSONS ALWAYS PREDICT THIS S*IT."

As soon as the picture from 'The Simpsons' came to light, people came up with bizarre theories about the show, as one Internet user said: "I feel the writers is from the future and time traveled to warm us with the series but we always get it to late." While another one tweeted: "Matt Groenning, the creator of The Simpsons, was once in possession of a magic box called 'The Yellow Cube'. This is a device capable of bending space-time, allowing one to look backward or forward in time."

Soon more and more people started tweeting strange theories, as another one wrote: "Or maybe it's just the other way around. They first watch The Simpsons and then act exactly that way." Another one said: "Simpson's is proof just how messed up the world is. They go for the possible extreme of a situation for a few laughs & the world keeps going "Well that's not a bad idea"

Sharing more screenshots from the show, one Twitter user said: "With Tom Hanks hosting tonight’s primetime inauguration special it’s time to remind everyone that The Simpsons never misses."

Earlier, in Season 20, Episode 4 of the show, 'Treehouse of Horror XIX' (linked to the 2008 presidential election) Homer goes into a booth to attempt to vote for former president Barack Obama, only for the computerized machines to count it for late John McCain.

It took a full election cycle for this one to occur, as a 2012 viral video depicted a voting booth in Pennsylvania doing the same thing with Obama and Mitt Romney.

The Tom Hanks special episode will broadcast live on NBC, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN at 8:30 pm ET on Wednesday, January 20. It will also be streamed live on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Amazon Prime Video, Microsoft Bing, NewsNOW, DirectTV and U-verse.
