Queen sad she's 'barely seen Archie' and that he'll miss growing up with his cousins post royal split
Coming to terms with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's future plans as "non-senior Royals" has reportedly perturbed Queen Elizabeth II, who is believed to be "very sad" since she has barely seen or spent time baby Archie.
The eight-month-old royal baby has had almost no opportunity to see his extended family, especially with the Sussexes' plans to step back from the royal spotlight stretching into months. According to reports, the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and his children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have met with Archie only a few times.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh met him when he was just two days old at Windsor Castle. However, they could not attend his christening as it clashed with a private weekend at Sandringham they hold every year. "She will be very sad to have barely seen Archie and that he will miss out on growing up with his cousins and wider family," a source told The Sunday Times.
Archie was photographed in Meghan's arms alongside William, Kate and their children during a polo match in Berkshire back in July. The royal brothers and their families have not been seen as a group since. In November, Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, jetted off to Canada for their six-week Christmas holiday. The eight-month-old was left there with his nanny when his parents came to the UK to announce their exit from the royal family. After the news was relayed Meghan left the UK to be with her son leaving Harry to take care of matters with the royal family. This essentially means the little boy hasn't been to the UK since the new year.
While Harry is reported to be reuniting with Meghan and Archie in the coming weeks, there is no indication when the family will next visit the UK. Meanwhile, the 93-year-old monarch will be left wondering when she will meet her great-grandson again. Prince Charles reportedly takes his moniker 'Grandpa Wales' very seriously. He makes sure to spend quality time with William, Kate, George, Charlotte, and Louis but now the same cannot be said for baby Archie.
The family was last together when they all took the traditional trip to the Queen's Norfolk estate for Christmas.
