An insider has claimed that Queen Elizabeth II has had a 'very difficult time behind the scenes' and is struggling to write her Christmas speech after having a very challenging year.

The 93-year-old Queen usually covers some family highlights within her Christmas Day message. However, she is finding it a bit difficult to write this year given how the last few months have been for the royal family.

As reported by Vanity Fair, a source shared, "It’s still at a first-draft stage because of the election, but it probably hasn’t been the easiest speech to write. It has been a very difficult time behind the scenes, and morale is at a bit of a low."

The royal family has been surrounded by a lot of controversies this year, the last being that the Queen fired Prince Andrew over his role in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38, feuding with the royal family. Some royal experts believe that this is the toughest year for the Queen since 1992 when Prince Charles had announced that he was separating from Princess Diana.

That same year, Princess Anne announced that she was divorcing her husband Mark Philips as the royal family was humorously nicknamed 'annus horribilis'.

The Queen's biographer revealed that she is leaning on her son, Prince Charles, 71, throughout the current difficult period. It was just last month that her other son, Prince Andrew, was forced to resign from his royal duties post a disastrous interview about his association and friendship with late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

We had previously reported that the Duke has constantly denied the allegations made by victim Virginia Roberts who claimed that she was forced into having sex with Andrew when she was around 17 years old. She spoke to BBC and gave an interview where she shared that she had been 'abused' by Prince Andrew and was left feeling 'ashamed and dirty'.
