'The Old Man' called curtains down with a scintillating Episode 7. The chapter had some reveals, some intense action, lengthy dialogues, and some twists, but it did manage to keep enough parts aside for another installment that has already been greenlit. The series based on Thomas Perry's novel of the same name churned out one great episode after another before one massive cliffhanger at the end.

Episode 7 finally reveals the actual reason behind Faraz Hamzad hunting Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges). It wasn't payback for not just taking his wife Belour (Leem Lubany), but for also taking away his daughter. Emily/Angela (Alia Shawkat) was his daughter, and that sets the tone for Season 2. With this, we take a look at the ending and try what to expect in the upcoming edition.

'The Old Man' Season 1 Episode 7 Ending Explained

In the final minutes of the episode, Faraz Ahmed is reunited with his daughter, Emily. It comes at a cost after Raymond Waters (EJ Bonilla) is killed in the process, but it was always worth noting that the Afghan warlord would pull out all stops if it meant getting his daughter back. At the other end, Chase and Harper decide to board a flight and plan the next steps to rescue the former's daughter. What this essentially does is set up a few story options for Season 2. One of the first questions is about the interaction between Emily and Hamzad and how it may actually lead to her changing her mind about the whole situation.

With the information, she received from the CIA and the FBI, Hamzad isn't an ally, but someone to whom the US government funneled money and weapons. The other storyline is how she views Chase and her mother, Belour (Leem Lubany) after the way they flee to America with her and kept the truth from her all along. Trust issues were a common theme explored in the show and these questions would mean a strained relationship between Emily, Harper, and Chase.

The season ended with Amy Brenneman's Zoe just pushed back to her normal life, and only time will tell how she fits into the larger plan in Season 2. Chase and Harper have their work cut out as they now track Hamzad's whereabouts and the only lead who could have helped them is dead. 'The Old Man' finale sets up a promising Season 2 even though there's that point of how many episodes of content it can actually generate. It shouldn't be surprising if FX maybe calls it with just five episodes, but that's a discussion that can be tabled for later.

'The Old Man' will return with Season 2 on FX.
