'The Night Agent' Season 4: How the Los Angeles-themed storyline might bring back Rose Larkin
All signs point to Rose Larkin's (Luciane Buchanan) return in 'The Night Agent' Season 4. The Gabriel Basso Netflix starrer was a major hit for the streamer, with Season 3 premiering earlier this February. The show has been one of Netflix's successful spy thrillers, but the major talking point in Season 3 was Rose's absence. What has been well-documented is the fourth season set in Los Angeles, California. After spending the first season with Basso's Peter, Rose was brought back for the second instalment. It ended with the character moving to California, and she was not featured in Season 3.
With the next mission set in Los Angeles, it makes sense if the two cross paths again. What the series can do is take a leaf out of the 'Jack Ryan' series and give more than just a glimpse of Peter's personal life. Last we saw, his romantic interest was Rose. Since then, he has been wholly on cases that see him not involved in a life outside of it. Whether it be his social life or even a more emotional arc, season 4 needs to focus more on Sutherland's life when he isn't saving the world. With Rose looked at as a potential target for people to get to Peter, the idea was to separate. At some point, the series has to bring back its love interest to add more depth to their respective characters and the new season's storyline.
Earlier, in an interview with Deadline, Basso was asked about how Rose would make a major difference in Season 4 from a relationship angle. "I think he wants a relationship, but at this point in his life and how important he sees this job and rooting out corruption and doing the right thing, I think that ultimately is more important to him than having a relationship," the actor said. "But I think if anyone, he would probably try to find Rose again and track her down and see what happens with that."
Previously, the actress revealed her absence in the third season. "The writers decided that they wanted to follow Peter and his journey based on what happened at the end of season 2…so we don’t get to see what happens to Rose," she told the outlet. While there is no word on when the release date for Season 4 will be, the show will likely see a 2027 release at best. While the wait continues for Peter and his next objective, fans can catch seasons 1-3 of 'The Night Agent' on Netflix.
