'The Masked Singer' Season 9 DC Superheroes Night: Wolf is Grammy winner Michael Bolton, here is how we knew
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: During Wednesday night's DC superhero-themed edition of 'The Masked Singer', the Wolf received a hero's welcome that was clearly worth the wait, but he was ultimately the lone wolf eliminated home. The stage was also decked out with memorabilia from the entire DC universe - from the Batmobile and Bat Signal from Batman to Aqua Man’s suit and even the original Christopher Reeve Superman costume. It was an incredible sight to behold! The event was made even more special by the presence of the stars of the upcoming movie ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’, including Helen Mirren and Zachary Levi, as well as Jim Lee, the publisher and chief creative officer of DC Comics. Lee offered up some comic book-worthy clues and behind-the-scenes insights into some of the upcoming projects.
Wolf went into the competition against Gargoyle and Squirrel, both rookies to the show, with zero prior knowledge. Nothing was teased online or in a sneak peek. Despite yet, 'The Masked Singer' had ardent followers who made assumptions based solely on the physical type of the singer. Moreover, it appears that some people also believed the Wolf to be Tyler Posey, Taylor Lautner, or David Hasselhoff. Who then was hiding behind the mask? Of course, the fact that the man beneath the Wolf had a distinct voice may have been the reason why there weren't many hints. Wolf was ultimately revealed to be... Michael Bolton! The Wolf was surprisingly one of the less ornate costumes in 'The Masked Singer'. The singer was dressed in a full furry suit, complete with gloves, medieval boots, and a huge royal tunic and cloak. The tunic bore a massive wolf insignia, and the wolf head was adorned with a chrome-like sheen and red war paint. Many people thought the costumes resembled those from 'Game of Thrones'.

Clues for Wolf
As soon as Wolf entered the stage and performed a rendition of The Doors' 'Break on Through', he said, "Hello, and welcome to my love den." He went on to drop some more clues, saying, "Can I offer you anything? A Grammy?", which was a clear breakthrough for viewers and Panelists. Even though Panelists Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, and Nicole Scherzinger could all correctly guess the unmistakable voice of Bolton, there was no helping Ken Jeong, who believed the Wolf to be Richard Marx. Bolton also hinted at his friendship with Lady Gaga, Andy Samberg or Jay-Z, saying that "they’ll vouch for me". Furthermore, he continued and exclaimed, "So sit back, relax and enjoy as the leading man shows you the power of love", referring to his hit song 'Love is the Power'. FOX also dropped a clue package to help the live audience, as well as the panelists, connect with the celebrity singer inside it. The clue package revealed a cheetah head, a saxophone, a clock with no hands and a ship. The Gargoyle, who lost to the Squirrel, was able to secure their spot and continued on the show. So Bolton was forced to leave the show alone, and said, “It was a rollercoaster,”
Michael Bolton howled out loud on the stage, being the winner of two Grammies and having four nominations under his wing. He has reportedly sold more than 65 million albums and singles throughout the world and still continues touring every year. He is still an active singer and songwriter who has worked on a wide array of projects that spans music, film, television and entertainment.
Wolf was the sixth mask eliminated from 'The Masked Singer' Season 9. Prior to this elimination, Dick Van Dyke as Gnome, Sara Evans as Mustang, Howie Mandel as Rock Lobster, Debbie Gibson as Night Owl and Grandmaster Flash as Polar Bear was sent home.
'The Masked Singer' Season 9 releases new episodes every Wednesday at 8 pm ET on FOX.
