'The Masked Singer' Season 9 New York Night: Polar Bear is hip hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash, here are the clues
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Masked Singer' Season 9 'New York Night' episode saw two new masked singers, Polar Bear and California Roll, competing against Medusa. Well, California Roll and Medusa managed to stay in the competition, while Polar Bear was eliminated and unmasked in the middle of the episode.
Polar Bear was unveiled as hip-hop singer Joseph Saddler, famously known by his stage name Grandmaster Flash. Donning the stage in a multi-colored jumpsuit, accompanied by gold chains, blue glasses, a red cap, and red and white shoes, Grandmaster Flash perfectly carved his impression on the mask. 'The Masked Singer' Season 9 Episode 3 was themed 'New York Night'. We saw Polar Bear on the stage, singing the history of New York in his soulful voice. He sang 'Rapture' by Blondie. Clues for Polar Bear
As soon as Polar Bear came on the stage with his cheerful and rapper vibe, FOX dropped a clue package to help the live audience, as well as the panelists, connect with the celebrity singer inside it. It was revealed that the singer inside this mask "grew up in an undesirable neighborhood of New York." In the clue package clip, a scratch-off lottery ticket was shown, hinting that getting out of a troubled neighborhood was like a lottery to him. Polar Bear said in the clue package, "These streets are where I developed my interest in electronic as a kid."
The celebrity singer inside the Polar Bear mask was revealed to have developed a "new sound" in the music industry that was never heard before. Moreover, the other clue dropped was that the singer is a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The "scratching" clue connected Grandmaster Flash to being known in the music industry as the pioneer of Hip Hop DJing, cutting, scratching, and mixing." He was inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Grandmaster Flash's family immigrated from Barbados. He was raised in the Bronx, New York City. As a teenager, he began experimenting with DJ gears and developed and mastered three innovations, the 'Backspin technique' 'Punch phrasing', and 'Scratching'.
With Polar Bear being unmasked as Grandmaster Flash, Medusa, and California Roll move ahead for the Battle Royale round.
