Prime's 'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel' Season 5 Episode 2 Takeaway: Midge's career takes an exciting turn

1985 to 1990

Timeshift has been the theme of 'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel' this season and while it supports the timeline, it also shows both realities at the same time. Episode 6 starts with a time jump and goes into the year 1985 when Midge announced her separation from her manager Susie and then gradually shifts to 1990, where Susie is a big shot. Susie’s skills as a manager led her to eventual fame and everybody appreciated her skills. The entire episode was focused on the story of Susie and how she made her way into the world of showbiz.

The episode also highlights the partnership between Midge and Susie and their eventual fallout. The episode titled 'Testi-Roastial' was set in 1985 and we see that Susie is a big shot and rules Hollywood. She is seen entering a building, where every famous person of that era is present, including old and wrinkled Mike Carr's Jason Ralph. Everyone at the party comes up on the podium and after some time we realize that it's actually a roast party of Susie.

Do Midge and Susie eventually make up?

At the end of Susie's roast party, we see a big surprise and the sound of a projector coming to life. Somewhere along the line, we assume that it's Midge, and to our surprise it is. She is in Kansas and is recording herself talking about Susie and her friendship. She talks about how Susie was the key to her success and how she never thanked her for it. She ends the video by saying that she would love to meet her once she is back in New York. The episode ends with Susie walking home with a bittersweet feeling in her heart.

'The Marvelous Mrs Maisel' is now exclusively available only on Prime Video.
