'The King: Eternal Monarch' finale episode will see what fate holds in store for King Lee Gon and Detective Tae-eul. At the end of episode 15, we saw how Jo Yeong got ready to accompany Lee Gon to travel back into the past from the Kingdom of Corea. On the other hand, Tae-eul has switched places with Shin-jae and will now accompany Lee Lim into the nomansland. The upcoming episode will show if the trio succeeds in capturing Lee Lim in the past and how this changes each of their lives.

The end of episode promo was short and all that we saw was Jo Yeong and Lee Gon enter the hall where Manpasikjeok was kept. However, this was in the past and they enter with guns loaded, taking aim and shooting everyone who stands as an obstacle. SBS also released a teaser clip on Instagram which features Jo Yeong, injured gravely and bloodied.

We also see in the clip that something huge has changed between Lee Gon and Tae-eul after their attempt to change the past. For one, it seems as if Lee Gon's alter-ego might not die this time around, however, it was not the alter-ego who had fallen in love with Tae-eul. We also see Lee Gon's confession play out again in the teaser, but it is a sadder version, which makes it seem as if the two are not going to get their happy ending at the end of this ordeal.

Lee Gon might have succeeded in killing Lee Lim in the past, which would mean that Lee Lim never stepped into Tae-eul's world and so Lee Gon's alter ego never did get killed by Lee Lim. However, this doesn't explain how Tae-eul seems to remember Lee Gon. She stands right in front of him as he crosses by without recognizing her, and this also indicates at the fact that this man has never seen Tae-eul, not even her id card.

Does this have something to do with the CCTV footage that Lee Gon had seen in one of the previous episodes which featured Tae-eul visiting the book store sometime in the future? At that time, he had assumed that it was a technical glitch, but could there be more to this than we know?

The one thing that the teaser doesn't feature at all is what happens to Lee Lim. Does he get captured or will he manage to get himself out of this plan of Lee Gon's as well? We would have to watch the finale to know more.

'The King: Eternal Monarch' is originally aired in South Korea on SBS at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The show can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
