‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Part 2 quietly confirms fan-favorite duo's return and the wait is already feeling long
'Bridgerton' fans are no strangers to the Regency-era drama show's usual format, which shines a narrative spotlight on a single couple as the leading pair for each season. This was established way back on the Netflix show's debut season, which focused on the love story between Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton. Season 2 upheld this tradition by establishing Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton as the leading couple, followed by Season 3, which chronicled the relationship between Collin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. The focus of the ongoing season has shifted to Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek.
Given this narrative structure, it is common for the Netflix show to bring back former leading couples as secondary characters in later seasons. However, Season 3 sweethearts Kate and Anthony were conspicuous by their absence in the first part of the show's Season 4. This was duly explained in a PEOPLE magazine report, which cited Kate's pregnancy and the couple's subsequent trip to her hometown in India as the reasons for their absence from events in the first half of the fourth season. Kate decided to travel to India since she wanted her and Anthony's child, i.e., their 'little heir', to discover their roots.
As pointed out by a ScreenRant report, both Kate and Anthony are poised to make up for their lost time on the show by returning to the second half of Season 4. This is confirmed by the Netflix show itself, which plays a teaser at the end of the first batch of four episodes, which dropped on January 29, highlighting what to expect from the second batch. Kate and Anthony are seen in the teaser, putting to rest all concerns about the couple being written out of the show.
In hindsight, it seems the show never intended to keep Kate and Anthony absent from 'Bridgerton' for a prolonged period. This was reiterated by showrunner Jess Brownell, who had previously revealed in a 2024 interview with Teen Vogue, "I think the strength of sending them off to India for a little while is that it does leave the door open for them to come back, schedules allowing. I think, understandably, when any of our lead actors have given over their lives for their season, in future seasons, we want to be supportive of the fact that they do have other projects coming in, and to ask actors to come back just to be in the background is not really fair to them."
On the other hand, Simone Ashley, who plays Kate, had remarked about her return to the show in a 2025 interview with Brit + Co, "I can't tease anything, but I can say I was filming a couple of weeks ago, with the girls. I'm super excited to be back on the show. I'm so grateful for everything that that show has given me, and whenever I go back to it, it just feels like home." 'Bridgerton' season four part two drops on Netflix on February 26, 2026.
