'Maybe not the best time': Internet grossed out by Kourtney Kardashian's 'insensitive' caption amid Maui wildfires
MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Kourtney Kardashian is enjoying some alone time with her husband, Travis Barker, just days before they have their first child together. Her recent holiday photo dump to the beach, on the other hand, garnered some criticism online, with users calling her caption "insensitive" to those affected by the Maui fire.
On the other side, Hollywood (at least some of it) is banding together to assist the people of Hawaii. The gusts from Hurricane Dora, a Category 4 hurricane, caused a wildfire that devastated the Maui town of Lahaina. According to NBC News, Maui County acknowledged on August 10 that 36 people perished in the fire, and authorities said that more than 11,000 people have been evacuated from the island so far.

Celebrities including Olivia Wilde, Jason Momoa, and Carlos and Alexa Penavega have rushed to Instagram to support people impacted by the Maui wildfire.
Pregnant Kourtney and Travis leave on a babymoon to the beach
Kourtney announced her pregnancy to Blink-182 fans in June by carrying a sign that said "Travis I'm Pregnant," a reference to a scene in the rock band's 'All The Small Things' music video.
Kourtney is set to become the mother of four children! But, before the big day, the Poosh entrepreneur and her husband Travis went on what appeared to be a very romantic babymoon getaway. The pair revealed little, joyful indications of their tropical holiday in images uploaded on her Instagram. There were video shots of a peaceful morning beach, as well as a photo of Kourtney and Travis' feet resting on a table, as Kourtney held her baby belly in a short outfit. In another photo, a pink car was parked behind palm trees, probably to ferry visitors around the luxurious beach property. She also posted a lovely shot of palm palms at dusk and a video clip of waves breaking on the beach at night, which is certainly a magical sight.
'There’s people that are dying'
As Maui locals wake up to another day of the devastation wrought by a horrific wildfire that has claimed 36 lives and displaced hundreds, many are wondering where the island's wealthiest landowners are - and what they're willing to do to assist. Oprah Winfrey, Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, Clint Eastwood, and Steven Tyler are among the celebrities who have houses on Maui, but none has spoken about how they plan to aid people in need.
Amid all of this, 'The Kardashian' star is facing a backlash despite not having a house within the affected area due to the caption that came along with her August 10 post. She wrote, "the ocean calms the fire in me."
One user commented under the post, "maybe not the best time to say the ocean calms the fire - when people in Hawaii were forced into the ocean because of a fire." Another person chimed in, "So insensitive to the people on Maui." One user quipped, “there’s people that are dying”. A fourth user asked, "Are you glad you don't live in Hawaii with that fire hopefully you will give to the needy?"
One person ranted, "These people have very sad and useless lives. All they do is post pictures about themselves and how miserable they spend their wealth, while there's a lot of hunger and homelessness." Another person added, "Gross caption/."
