Who is the founder of The Hype Company?
The origins of HYPD or The Hype Company can be traced back to a group of dedicated fans who were unsatisfied with the custom products available to them and decided to take matters into their own hands. Marc Herzberger and Cheng Kue, the co-founders of HYPD, listened to the demands of passionate fans and set out to create footwear that truly embodied their spirit.
In 2018, Cheng decided to establish The HYPE Company, a brand dedicated to providing fans with custom footwear that exceeded their expectations. With a vision to cater to superfans and deliver products that truly resonate with their passion, HYPD was born.
At the core of HYPD is Cheng Kue, the co-founder and Chief Creative Officer. With a background in Industrial and Product Design from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Cheng has had a successful career in the footwear industry, working for notable companies such as Adidas and Crocs. His experience and expertise have led to the creation of award-winning shoe designs, selling millions of pairs for various brands.
When the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, it brought forth numerous challenges. However, rather than succumbing to these obstacles, Cheng devised an innovative manufacturing process that reduced reliance on suppliers and factories. This new method facilitated faster production of his products, enabling him to deliver timely shipments to his customers.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Cheng also holds the position of Chief Product Officer at People Footwear. In 2022, he partnered with Marc Herzberger to establish The HYPE Company, to make a significant impact in the footwear industry.
The founders of The HYPE Company take great pride in their conscious and sustainable approach to manufacturing. Utilizing techniques that result in approximately 98% waste reduction, they strive to minimize their impact on the planet.
Additionally, the midsoles of all HYPD footwear are crafted from plant-based EVA materials, further emphasizing their commitment to eco-friendliness. Furthermore, the brand offers consumers the unique option to customize their slides by choosing from a variety of interchangeable straps, allowing individuals to express their personal style. Marc, a graduate of the University of Colorado, possesses an impressive background.
He served as the President of the Legislative Council in the University of Colorado Student Government from March 2010 to December 2011. Continuing his professional journey, Marc joined Crocs, Inc., where he spent over nine years in various roles, including International Tax Analyst, Global Transfer Pricing Manager, and Senior Manager of Asia Tax and Transfer Pricing.
Before joining The HYPE Company as its Chief Executive Officer in May 2022, Marc assumed the role of International Tax Director at Mirion Technologies, Inc. in September 2020.
