After just returning from a hiatus that was over a month-long, ABC's medical drama 'The Good Doctor' is off to take another one. This comes after the show aired just two episodes following its return from the break on January 11. As things are heating up in Shaun Murphy's relationship with Lea, off to yet another milestone with meeting his parents, ABC has other plans for fans aching to know when the aftermath of it all rolls out. TV schedules and listings reveal no new episodes of 'The Good Doctor' Season 4 until March at least, but for the next two weeks, ABC will air the first two episodes of this season at the show's usual 10 PM Tuesday night time slot. So instead of the upcoming Episode 9, prepare to te a trip down 'Frontline Part I' on February 1, and 'Frontline Part II' on February 8. The next week, February 15, doesn't have a repeat episode scheduled but also doesn't have the name of a new episode against it. Although the break looks indefinite, with no news of what's after tonight's Episode 8, here's hoping the show returns by February 15.
The last time the show had gone on a break in this season was back on November 30, after airing the first five episodes. In the latest Episode 8, titled 'Parenting', "The team treats a teenage gymnast who experiences complications from her intensive training. Meanwhile, Shaun meets Lea's parents for the first time." The previous Episode 7 saw the aftermath of Dr Audrey Lim's (Christina Chang) motorcycle crash was an epiphanic eye-opener for both the character and viewers alike. The chief of surgery of The Good Doctor's fictional St Bonaventure hospital finally breaks down in the wake of the pandemic and the torment of being on the frontline in a post-Covid-19 world. Lim's stoicism and denial work hard at keeping her away from confronting her own alluded PTSD, and it is only in another patient's words does she find a striking resemblance of her own ordeal. Although what Lim does with this daunting realization was something highly anticipated, it went completely ignored in the seventh episode. Episode 8 is expected to tackle more on that front.
