Spoilers for 'The Good Doctor'Season 4 Episode 4

On the previous episode of 'The Good Doctor' Season 4, viewers along with the senior residents at St Bonaventure were introduced to the six new residential applicants - four out of whom had managed to advance to the second round. One of them was the sharp and driven Olivia Jackson who was an immediate hit with Shaun Murphy as his understudy and has been quite the steady performer so far. But there was a catch of course with the other residents not being too sure of Olivia. Still, in the recent Episode 4, looks like Marcus is completed besotted with the young junior resident - piquing our intrigue regarding who she is and why the sudden keenness?

The answer lies in the latest Episode 4 titled 'Not the Same' where Olivia actually demands Shaun to have her back. The reason behind her bold demand was that after the first day at the hospital, Olivia failed at making the best impression on the other senior residents. The seniors didn't seem to take too keenly to her as her every answer sounded more like an unsure question. It just seemed like she was downplaying herself a lot and that just didn't put things in her favor. This week, however, Olivia seemed more sure of herself as she answered with conviction mid-surgery and took Shaun by both surprise and pride.

We find out soon why happens as it turns out, Olivia is related to none other than Marcus Andrews. Their relationship is that of an uncle and niece and although Marcus celebrates her improvement with a hug and joyous glee, Olivia reminds him he must treat her like all other junior residents. It's uncertain right now if their relationship is more than that because at the end of the episode when Olivia has another moment of weakness and begs Marcus to let her handle this on her own, their proclamations of love to each other sound a bit odd. But let's just call it a really close bond and put a lid on that.

It's touching that Marcus would be so willing to help his niece, but what's even more inspiring is Olivia's willingness to do this without his help. She tells Marcus she knows he's always going to be there for her but she has to do this on her own. And we can't wait to see her flourish.

'The Good Doctor' Season 4 airs on Mondays at 10 pm only on ABC.
