'The Flash' Season 6 Episode 4 'There Will Be Blood' proves that family is still the heart and soul of the superhero drama
This review contains spoilers for 'The Flash' Season 6 Episode 4: 'There Will Be Blood'
'There Will Be Blood' is a distinct reminder that team Flash considers itself a family, and an awfully tight-knit one at that. While Barry has pretty much come to terms that his death is a necessary sacrifice, team Flash hasn't been able to process the news and each member has a distinct reaction to it. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) decides to save Barry no matter the cost, Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) can't get to focus on his case, even if it is Sue Dearbon. Emotions run high when Cisco and Barry argue on why it is essential for the team to move on without the Scarlet Speedster after the next six weeks.
While the Barry-Cisco exchange may have moistened eyes, the waterworks begin when Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) breaks sobs uncontrollably at the thought of losing Barry forever. What follows is a touching moment between father and son. All this goes on to say that this was one of the traits that made 'The Flash' a great show to begin with. There was always that one moment when team Flash would look up to each other for inspiration, strength, and support. This time, all the attention is on Barry.
Iris has been Barry's pillar of strength. Cisco, Ralph, and Frost get their strength from being around Barry. Joe and Cecille have always seen the speedster as their own. And to be of note is that each of them is still fully not over Nora's death. The strong character drama has always played a key role in the show's success and bringing in the element way early in the season is the perfect way for the superhero show to dish out what could be its best installment to date.
