'The Curse Of Oak Island' is back, treasure-hunting folks. Even a crippling pandemic can't keep the Lagina brothers from scouring the mysterious island for the eighth year in running. In the finale of Season 7, the team reviewed the information and data that they had gathered from the island and tried to trace them back to their respective timelines in order to piece together the 200-year-old puzzle.

The island was supposed to be inhabited, so then how come there are shreds of evidence to prove otherwise? Marty Lagina brought his unique discovery to the table: a toonie. A couple of weeks ago, he decided to carry out an experiment and threw it into the borehole. He hoped that if he ever located the coin, he could understand whether it would have drifted. And so, he and Gary Drayton found it a week ago.

This means that the toonie traveled 10 feet. And so, this leads to the concrete proof that metal objects could move "quite readily" and be swept several feet underground. This explains why no one is able to find the elusive treasure, he said.

Well, we're all looking forward to Season 8 with bated breath, as a lot of questions are to be answered. The synopsis for the first episode reads, "In the midst of a worldwide pandemic, Rick, Marty and the team return to Oak Island. Armed with evidence of possible tunnels leading to the Money Pit, the fellowship is convinced they have the tools to solve the Oak Island mystery once and for all."

It's a bit of a risk to be going out there, because they are constantly meeting different people — researchers, blacksmiths and museum owners. Yet, the team is clearly doing their best to devise a safe strategy and is keeping in mind the pandemic, hoping that it won't hamper their treasure hunt. In the sneak-peeks we've seen them on Zoom calls.

Island researcher Doug Crowell reveals that in the chaos of the pandemic he was isolated on the island and was going through Dan Blankenship's original work, along with a map drawn by Fred Nolan. The surveys indicate tunnels to the Money Pit, and the presence of metals, which could just be gold, according to Gary Drayton.

It's going to be even more difficult for the Fellowship to scour the island, as there are great risks in continuing the quest and there just might be more restrictions placed on them. Nevertheless, as always, it promises to be a fun watch.

'The Curse Of Oak Island' returns on November 10 at 9 pm on History Channel.
