‘The Crowded Room’ star Tom Holland once mistook co-star Mark Wahlberg’s gift as a 'self-pleasure' device
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Holland is all set to dive beyond the ‘Spider-Man’ universe and appear in a leading role in Akiva Goldsman’s psychological thriller series ‘The Crowded Room.’ The show will see Holland shift from playing the loving superhero and boy-next-door Peter Parker to Danny Sullivan, a disturbed individual with a mysterious past.
While Holland plays Sullivan, a complex man with a difficult past who was arrested for his involvement in a 1979 shooting incident in New York City, the actor is the complete opposite of complexity when it comes to his real life. Holland has often been dubbed a “goofball” for his adorable antics and fun personality. One hilarious example of Holland’s goofiness was presented to the public when the actor admitted that he thought ‘Uncharted’ costar Mark Wahlberg’s massage gun gift was actually a ‘self-pleasure’ device.
‘I was confused’
During an interview to promote ‘Uncharted,’ Holland’s live-action video game film with Wahlberg, the former admitted that he was very nervous to meet Wahlberg for the first time and even misinterpreted a gift the latter gave him, making the situation even more awkward. The Marvel star remembered meeting Wahlberg at his home in Los Angeles and said he was nervous as he was a “huge fan” of the actor.
Holland noted that Wahlberg had “such an incredible career varying from all types of different types of movies” but said he “realized if we got the chance to work together, we'd be fast friends” within a few minutes of the meeting. He then shared he mistook a massage gun Wahlberg gifted him as self-pleasuring device.
“Mark Wahlberg was kind enough to give me a massage gun after I left his house in L.A. and he drove me back to my hotel. I was confused as to what kind of massage gun this was, having never seen one before, and I thought it was the type of self-pleasure device,” Holland told Access Hollywood. The actor also admitted that he thought Wahlberg gave him a lift back home for “reasons other than just being a gentleman.” Holland added, “I didn't know you. It's Hollywood, baby. Who knows what's gonna happen?”
‘Gotta get your head outta the gutter’
Holland’s admission left Wahlberg bewildered and he explained that he decided to gift Holland the massage gun after previous discussions about fitness and working out. The actor even called the device one of the “best massage guns out there.”
“I was like, ‘I want to gift you one. This would be great for your recovery and everything else,’” Wahlberg said. “And he's just kind of looking at me… I can't believe this whole time you were thinking that, and I'm just trying to have a conversation with you talking about your family and talking about my kids,” he added. “Gotta get your head outta the gutter, buddy,” Wahlberg quipped.
