'The Boys' Season 4: Why Black Noir II outshines OG character in all elements
Contains spoilers and speculations for 'The Boys' Season 4
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Boys' Season 4 is finally here bringing a new Black Noir. Throughout the first 3 seasons, Black Noir was a key member of The Seven, loyal to Homelander and Vought.
However, Season 3 unexpectedly killed off the original silent assassin. Now, a new Black Noir has emerged in the series, with notable differences from his predecessor.
The latest season of 'The Boys' continues the team’s mission following Season 3. They aim to stop Victoria Neuman from becoming Vice President and pursue Butcher's goal of killing Homelander.
Season 4 introduces several new supes to The Seven, including the Black Noir II, adding intrigue to the team.
Black Noir II can fly in 'The Boys' Season 4
Episode 7 of 'The Boys' Season 4 reveals a twist that the new Black Noir can fly. Though he wears the original Black Noir's costume, he is actually an actor hired by The Seven to cover up Homelander's murder of the original Black Noir.
This new Noir prefers acting over being a hero but commits terrible acts due to Homelander's threat, as shown in the episode.
In the episode, Black Noir and The Deep fight The Boys in their office, aiming to kill Hughie, Starlight, and Butcher.
As Butcher fights Noir, Noir starts floating. This fulfills a previous hint about Noir's flight ability, making the new Noir far more frightening (and lowkey cool) than expected.
How different is Black Noir II from the OG in 'The Boys' Season 4?
Black Noir II can fly, giving him an edge over the original Supe but both versions have similar powers like super strength and durability, allowing them to fight characters like Starlight and Homelander without getting beaten right away.
In their Episode 7 fight, the new Black Noir takes some hard hits from Butcher but shrugs them off easily, showing he's almost as strong as the original.
However, the original Black Noir seems to have powers that the new one might not. One of Black Noir's best abilities was his healing power, which lets him recover from nearly any injury (except for Homelander's deadly punch).
Black Noir II hasn't shown this power yet, but it's possible he has it, and 'The Boys' just hasn't shown it yet.
The new Black Noir falls short only in assassin skills compared to the original
While both versions of Black Noir share similar powers, the original character had vastly superior skills as an assassin. He spent decades honing his craft, starting from his days in Payback to his tenure with The Seven.
The original Black Noir was renowned as one of The Seven's deadliest members, adept at silent, shadowy operations due to his extensive training.
In contrast, the new Black Noir has potential but lacks the experience and finesse of the original. He's a Supe by nature but not a seasoned superhero; instead, he prefers life as an actor.
This lack of background in lethal combat and superpowered battles makes the new Black Noir a less formidable replacement compared to the original.
The original Noir's only edge is experience, something we believe Black Noir II will soon match too.
