SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: Korean dramas are synonymous with the fan-favorite fantasy genre, and the most recent Netflix drama, 'The Atypical Family', has only increased the viewers' enthusiasm.

The show, which debuted on Saturday, May 4, 2024, revolves around a mysterious woman named Do Da-hae (Chun Woo-hee), who wants to marry Bok family's son, Bok Gwi-joo (Jang Ki-yong), in an attempt to take advantage of the wealth of the family.

Unaware that the family itself is hiding a long-kept secret about possessing superhuman abilities, Da-hae gets entangled with them, as they believe Da-hae has the key to regaining their lost ability.

In the most recent episode, Da-hae is thrust into the center of the supernatural mystery, altering her role from being a relentless chaser to a pivotal figure in Gwi-Joo's power growth.

While shopping at a mall for a present for his daughter, Bok In-ah (Park So-yi), Gwi-joo meets Da-hae, who follows him despite Gwi-joo's ignorance.

After seeing Gwi-Joo admiring kid's shoes, Da-hae proposes that In-ah will love a pair of shoes. However, Gwi-joo seems uninterested in socializing with her, and in an effort to push Da-hae away, he accidentally tears her sleeve.

Later, Da-hae shocks Gwi-joo by handing him a pair of shoes and asking him to give them to In-ah. Gwi-joo was initially hesitant, but when Da-hae persuaded him, he gave out the money for the present and left, leaving Da-hae alone to drink.

However, things take a dramatic turn after a fake fire alarm goes off, as Da-hae panics and a flashback to her school is shown with students running as emergency sirens blare.

Da-hae, unable to keep herself together, collapses to the ground, and Gwi-joo appears out of nowhere, holding her hand.

However, Da-hae just took her gaze away from him for a little while, and the guy vanished.

Da-hae was left moved by Gwi-joo's heartfelt action as she was seen intently pondering the situation, emphasizing that she was impressed by his brave effort.

What made Bok Gwi-joo's act so meaningful for Do Da-hae?

From the first episode of the series, it was established that Da-hae is suffering from some kind of past trauma and has fear of fire.

When the emergency alarms start to blare, it triggers her old trauma making her freeze and fall on the ground, while chaos ensues in the background with people trying to leave the dangerous place.

Amidst this, Da-hae was surprised when despite Gwi-Joo's usual disinterest, he reached out and grabbed her hand signifying that he put his own life in danger to pacify her.

This could be a deeply emotional moment for Da-hae as it signifies a physical connection she craved throughout their awkward encounters.

Additionally, this act could symbolize a potential shift in their dynamic as Gwi-Joo's touch could be interpreted as a sign of care or newfound acknowledgment, leaving Da-hae hopeful for a deeper connection.

Overall, as a result of the unexpected revelation of the return of his abilities and the major upgrade that allows him to touch people from the past, there may be a big shift in Gwi-joo and Da-hae's relationship in future episodes.

'The Atypical Family' Episode 1 and 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
