Tekashi 6ix9ine has been laying low on social media for quite some time but that still did not keep him out of trouble. After making news for all the wrong reasons in 2021, the rainbow-colored hair rapper is now getting sued by a promoter after the rapper backed out of a concert despite bagging the cash for the same.

The ‘Gooba’ hitmaker skipped a concert in Texas back in June 2021 after raking-in $75K in cash. The promoter identified as JJD Entertainment owned by Jamie Dominguez has filed a lawsuit claiming that the 25-year-old rapper took the money but never showed up to perform at Humble Civic Center in Humble, Texas on June 27. According to the court documents obtained by Complex, Dominguez shelled out $178,649.70 on 6ix9ine’s event when the budget was $178K. 6ix9ine has not commented on the lawsuit so far.

Why is 6ix9ine getting sued?

According to the lawsuit, the New York City rapper’s crew kept renegotiating the contract in the days before the show. The promoter claimed that he also paid more than $100K for the venue including the cost to produce the concert, security and insurance.  The lawsuit also stated that 6ix9ine’s contract clearly said that he would bag $45K while signing the paperwork and $75K when he shows up for the concert. Tekashi 6ix9ine then flew in to take the performance amount and later ended up disappointing his fans.

The promoter also revealed that he paid more than $28K to fly 6ix9ine on a private jet from Florida to Texas. TMZ back in June reported that the gates to the venue opened at 3 pm and the fans waited till 10 pm. The cops and the security ultimately forced the audience to vacant the venue after the hip-hop artist pulled off this stunt. Fans had reportedly shelled out $500 for tickets. Also, a few in the VIP enclosure had paid $3000 to enjoy the show.

Why did 6ix9ine skip the concert?

Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, had earlier shed light on his no-show at the Texas concert telling TMZ that he did not show up at the concert as the promoter did not pay him. JJD Entertainment later confronted the statement saying that the rapper’s claims were false adding that they will be suing the rapper for defamation as his remarks damaged the business.

According to Complex, the court documents read, “Shortly after Defendant, Daniel Hernandez, failed to perform in accordance with the agreement, he went on a livestream with DJ Akademiks where the Defendant, Daniel Hernandez stated that the contract price was $250,000.00, that he received a $45,000.00 deposit, and $70,000.00 in cash, knowing that those statements were false.” It further read, “On that livestream, Defendant, Daniel Hernandez, adamantly states that the only reason he left the concert site was because he did not get paid, knowing that statement was false.”
