NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: "It's me, hey, I'm the problem it's me," and a lot of New Yorkers agree with Taylor Swift. Amid the hullabaloo over her Eras Tour, the singer has reportedly failed to take care of the surroundings of her home in New York City and is facing thousands of dollars worth of fines for "improper disposal of garbage" outside her property.

Swift was once criticized for being the worst celebrity polluter, being held responsible for 8,293.54 tonnes of flying emissions. In 2022, she ranked as the celebrity with the highest carbon emissions. Despite all this, Swifties defended the singer, blaming the paparazzi and fans for the mess outside her home.

Taylor Swift owes NYC thousands

Swift reportedly received 32 tickets totaling $3,010 from New York's Sanitation Department for failing to maintain the area in front of her building in New York City. She was tapped by inspectors many times between between January 2018 and January 2023 to clear out the rubbish.

The area outside Swift's Tribeca home was covered in mounds of newspapers, bottles, cardboard and napkins, according to the New York Post. A cigarette carton and "scattered ashtray contents" were also seen on the ground, according to the outlet. "She doesn’t care about leaving trash out. I think she’s more focused on her multi-million dollar tour that’s bankrupting all her fans," a 22-year-old dog walker told the paper.

Swift bought the three-story Tribeca townhouse at 153 Franklin St in October 2017. The landlord of her former Cornelia Street home, David Aldea, claimed he was shocked by the news. "She was nothing but a perfect tenant the entire time and lovely to deal with. I have nothing but positive things to say about her," he said.

'She has no maids?'

This news has evoked a number of reactions on social media. A stunned fan tweeted, "What’s going on?!" Another fan said, "Why should it be #TaylorSwift 's responsibility if randos are the ones responsible for this???" "Elites are such filth," a user remarked. Another person asked, "@taylorswift13 cannot understand how something like this could happen. Do you not have someone looking out for your needs?" One joked, "Writing songs about ex boyfriends takes up all her time." Another user asked, "She has no maids?"
