'I love you': Tatum O'Neal shares adorable birthday pic with dad Ryan as he turns 82
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Tatum O'Neal took to Instagram on Friday, April 21, to celebrate her father Ryan's 82nd birthday. She shared an endearing photo where the father-daughter duo appeared happy while posing with a dog.
"Happy birthday dad I love you," wrote the 59-year-old Academy Award winner in the post's caption. The image showed a proud father placing a hand on his daughter's shoulder while she wrapped her arm around him. Tatum was seen wearing a beige blouse with colorful vertical stripes and matching pants. The background of the picture reveals an Andy Warhol print of Ryan's former partner Farrah Fawcett hanging above the bed, while a visible bar cabinet can be seen behind the pair.

'Happy birthday to your Dad'
Fans celebrated the actor's birthday by leaving comments like, "I [love] this. Happy birthday to your Dad!" Another wrote, "Happy birthday, sir! You look great!" Many fans were delighted to notice Farrah Fawcett's portrait. "So cute to see your Dad with a picture of Farrah over his bed," noted one fan in the comment section. Another expressed, "Beautiful pic of you two, and the Andy Warhol of FF."
Ryan and Farrah, though never married, started dating in 1979 after meeting on the set of 'The Six Million Dollar Man' and welcomed a son named Redmond in 1985. They broke up in 1997 but reconciled in 2001 when Ryan was diagnosed with leukemia, and Farrah took care of him during his remission.
'He's all I have in terms of family'
Following Farrah's death by cancer in 2009, Ryan and Tatum reconciled after a long-standing estrangement caused by their difficult relationship, which began when they co-starred in the 1973 film 'Paper Moon'. Tatum became the youngest person to win an Academy Award for that movie, just at the age of 10. During her teenage years, Tatum struggled with drug addiction. "I feel very lucky that I survived. I've fallen down along the way, but I've always gotten up," Tatum told PEOPLE about their relationship, adding that Farrah's death played "a very big role" in their reconciliation. "She brought us back together," she said. "He told me he's sorry. He's all I have in terms of family, and I needed him in my life. My dad was absolutely everything to me," she added.
In a 2020 Instagram post by her son, Sean McEnroe, Tatum was seen with her other children, Kevin and Emily, whom she shares with her ex-husband, tennis legend John McEnroe. "This is one of the most memorable photos of my life," wrote McEnroe. "The last time we were all together was at the 30-year Paper Moon Anniversary in 2003. I could cry tears of gratitude that everyone in this photo is still alive and that we were all able to come together again after so many years of hardship. The entire West Coast is burning, but if the O'Neals can reconcile, truly anything is possible."
