SZA admits to dating Drake and says it was 'completely innocent', but fans call him 'weirdo’ for bringing up past

SZA not only confirmed the relationship with the Grammy award-winning rapper but also corrected the misinformation passed through the song

SZA and Drake have been making headlines from the last few days after stories of their relationship in 2008 started doing the rounds on the Internet. And, all this happened after the Toronto rapper confessed about his relationship with the talented vocalist on a song with rapper 21 Savage and producer Metro Boomin called ‘Mr Right Now’ from the latter’s new album ‘Savage Mode II.’

Now, amidst all the hype, SZA had unfollowed Drake on Instagram but guess what, the 29-year-old singer-songwriter decided to address the news via her official Twitter account. She not only confirmed the relationship with the Grammy award-winning rapper but also corrected the misinformation passed through the song.

The lyrics of Drake’s new song go like, “Yeah, said she wanna f**k to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08 / If you cool with it, baby, she can still play / While I jump inside that box and have a field day”

Rectifying the rapper’s timeline error, she tweeted, “So It was actually 2009 lol.. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace”

The tweet also confused the fans, who worked out that SZA would have been 17 years old in 2008. In order to further clear the confusion, the ‘All the Stars’ hit-maker confirmed that she was not underage at the time of dating Drake. She posted, “I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening . Completely innocent . Lifetimes ago.”

The tweets posted by SZA took the Twitter world by storm. One user stated, “Well....since you’re confirming the past relationship with Drake, you and might as well give us SZA x Drake on a song.” One user slammed Drake and said, “Still kind of weird bringing up decade old relationships when it’s nobody’s business. Drake a weirdo” Another user added, “You def did not have to address this sis but it’s cool that you did, he weird af for even bringing it up”

One user tweeted, “I'm glad she did because if she hadn't cleared the rumors, people would continue to call him a pedo.” One fan posted, “Thanks for clearing that up Queen. Still think he didn’t have to put your business out there like that. Some things are better left unsaid.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time when the ‘God’s Plan’ hitmaker hinted at his relationship with SZA. In one of his earlier songs, ‘Diplomatic Immunity,’ Drake addressed the singer with her real name and rapped, “I just pulled up on Solána show, the girl’s a natural / I knew her way back when Hollywood was international / Yeah, the furthest I’ve been, that’s word to my ends / Word to the flags that belong in the hood of my Benz.”

Since SZA has addressed the relationship, it will be worth the wait if Drake responds to her in any manner.
