'Supernatural' fans in disbelief over Mark Sheppard's near-death ordeal after 4 resuscitations and 6 heart attacks
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Supernatural' star Mark Sheppard, who is known for playing the role of Crowley on the hit CW show, experienced a near-death ordeal after suffering six heart attacks on Friday, December 1, 2023.
The actor also had a 100% blockage in the left anterior descending artery of his heart and had to be resuscitated four times following a major medical emergency.
Sheppard took to Instagram to share the news of his medical condition and hospitalization alongside a photo of himself from the hospital bed.
Although the 59-year-old survived the massive health crisis, fans of 'Supernatural' as well as Sheppard's co-stars were left shocked and concerned.
A look at Mark Sheppard's health condition
Sheppard recently suffered a total of six "massive heart attacks" at his home in Los Angeles. Physicians also spotted a complete blockage in his left anterior descending artery (LAD), a branch of the left coronary artery of the heart.
LAD reportedly provides blood to the anterior ventricular septum and the greater portion of the anterior portion of the left ventricle. It is also considered the most important of the three main coronary arteries, as per MyHeart.
Blockage of the artery is often dubbed the "widow-maker infarction" due to the high risk of death in the condition.
Sheppard detailed his medical condition on his Instagram post, writing, "You’re not going to believe this! Was on my way to an appointment yesterday when I collapsed in my kitchen."
"Six massive heart attacks later, and being brought back from dead 4 times I apparently had a 100% blockage in my LAD. The Widowmaker," he revealed.
"If not for my wife, the @losangelesfiredepartment at mullholland and the incredible staff @providencecalifornia St Joseph’s - I wouldn’t be writing this," Sheppard wrote.
"My chances of survival were virtually nil. I feel great. Humbled once more. Home tomorrow! #spnfamily," he added.
