Supermodel Irina Shayk sent hearts racing as she flaunted her enviable figure wearing only bikini bottoms for a pre-lockdown photoshoot. Earlier this week, the Russian model opted for a more casual attire as she read a book on President Vladimir Putin, The Sun reports.

34-year-old Irina posted the stunning photo while isolating with her mum and daughter in New York. However, the reading material in her hand took the focus away from her radiant visage -- with throngs of her followers flooding the comments section to voice their confusion and displeasure regarding the book.

Shayk donned a grey sweatshirt along with paisley patterned trousers and had minimal makeup on with a pop of color on her lip in the photograph. "Staying home in my @suspiciousantwerp," she wrote in the caption.

She wore her characteristic glistening smile in the photograph, which saw her sprawled onto the couch with the left hand raised above her head, clutching Russian journalist Leonid Mlechin's new book 'Путин', which directly translates to 'Putin'.

Shayk was aiming at promoting the brand Suspicious Antwerp via the photoshoot, tagging the brand as well as using a hashtag stating herself as a partner to the brand.

However, the book seemed to garner more attention.

One fan wrote, "I’m way more interested in what you’re reading."

While another pointed out that her support for the controversial leader would be unlikely or hypocritical, alleging that Putin pushes to uphold 'traditional family values' and condemns homosexual unions.

"Do you seriously reading that garbage? Time to unfollow you I guess," wrote another fan.

"I am Russian and I don't know anybody who would buy a book about Putin. For what reason have she published this photo? Can't imagine. The worst president," a third fan chimed.

Another strongly-worded comment read, "Burn this book! It's disgusting! Putin is a tyrant and dictator, he kills both his people and all people on the planet."

Last year, the Russian beauty split with actor Bradley Cooper, 45, after spending four years together. They currently share the custody of their two-year-old daughter Lea De Seine.

In January, Irina opened up in a candid interview about how she was adjusting to life as a single mother.

The model admitted that she feels like she's on "new ground" following her separation from Bradley. "I think in all good relationships you bring your best and your worst – it’s just the nature of a human being," she told British Vogue. "Two great people don’t have to make a good couple."

"I think we’ve been very lucky to experience what we had with each other. Life without B is new ground," she continued.

However, the runway queen also admitted that being a single parent sometimes makes her feel like she's "falling apart." Nonetheless, she tries to balance it all the best she can.

"It's hard to find a balance between being a single mom and being a working woman and provider," she added. "Trust me, there are days I wake up and I'm like, 'Oh my god, I don't know what to do, I’m falling apart."
