Super Bowl LVI: Fans furious after deaf rappers Sean Forbes, Warren Snipe snubbed during show
Sean Forbes and Warren ‘Wawa’ Snipe made history as they became the very first set of deaf rappers to ever perform at a Super Bowl event in its history of 50 years. However, the social media users were not elated with the way they were treated at the show after the two were put in a different corner instead of the main stage. Sean and Warren, who were all hyped for their performance became one of the hottest topics of discussion after they were pushed aside for their performance.
Many on Twitter expressed their disappointment after the very first ASL presence at the Super Bowl edition of 2022 went unnoticed as it was not broadcasted on NBC. The footage was available only after the fans had to download the app which further irked them. Warren ‘Wawa’ Snipe is best known for founding the Wild Zappers, an all-male deaf dance community. The Washington DC native, who has been singing since 2005, coined the term 'Dip Hop' for Hip Hop through deaf eyes. Sean Forbes, on the other hand, shared on social media how excited he was to perform at Super Bowl LVI by sharing his picture with Dre and other news clippings.

Didn’t even see a snippet of them in the background’
Reacting to the latest controversy, one user stated, “Totally disappointed in the Super Bowl and @NBCSports coverage of deaf people and their participation in the Super Bowl! They had California School for the Deaf Riverside on and a lot of other deaf representatives- and they STILL gave subpar representation! F**kin’ done with it! Another shared, “I’m really disappointed the #superBowlhalftime had deaf rappers come in to sign and they weren’t even on the main broadcast and there was nothing pointing to where to find them. What’s the point in bringing them in to push them aside?”
One posted, “Deaf performers were announced to be part of the half time show. Why weren't they shown on tv? Why would you announce deaf performers and then make sure its extra steps to see their performances?” Whereas, the next one tweeted, “I was so excited to see the deaf performers during the Superbowl. Then I discovered that they aren't visible on the screen and that I had to download the app. The problem is the app is not available in 🇨🇦. Next time spotlight them so it's accessible for all!” One user added, “@SuperBowl I am extremely disappointed that you didn’t even showcase the deaf rappers at all. I didn’t even see a snippet of them in the background and trust me, as a deaf person if someone was repping for deaf/hoh ppl I’m going to watch. @DoctorDre101 sucks a** you skipped over.” And, one concluded, “I wish they should put deaf performers with all singers in the center stage, not in some corner.”
