Super Bowl LIV: Wives Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi leave audience in splits in a new Amazon Alexa ad

Super Bowl ads are a delight and 2020's commercials have been no different. Amazon released a 90-second spot centering around Alexa, the virtual assistant with the theme, or rather a question: "What did people do before Alexa?" The commercial stars Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi who ask 'the question' and then start a flashback of historic events that date all the way back to the medieval era and Nixon's day as President (The tape destroying reference is a riot though).
Check out the commercial here, because fans loved this one.
The ad may have sparked off a few Alexa memes, but this was easily one of the best of ads of the evening. "That Alexa ad was fabulous, one of my favorites in a while," wrote a fan. "I liked the #Alexa ad!! What would we do without Alexa ! Go back to old-fashioned jokes & ways of getting stuff done duh," tweeted another.
"One of those ads where you don’t know what is coming next: Ellen Degeneres and Portia Rossi star in a clever Amazon Alexa #SuperBowl ad that shows what people did before Alexa...in the past people asked real Alexas, Lexis, Alexa for help," said a fan. Here's some deep thought from one of the fans: "The Alexa commercial with #ellen was a great celebrity endorsement. She's known for her energy and that is seen for sure in how the ad is executed". And speaking of deep thought here's one more: "My takeaway from the Alexa ad: you can now replace a person with technology at home as well as at work. #brandbowl." Very astute that one, thank you very much.
