'Sunny' Episode 5 Preview: Fearing for her life, Suzie Sakamoto takes a big step

KYOTO, JAPAN: 'Sunny' Episode 4, which aired on July 24, 2024, finally gave viewers a glimpse into the ongoing mystery surrounding Masa Sakamoto (Hidetoshi Nishijima).
Suzie Sakamoto (Rashida Jones) hasn't had the chance to grieve for her husband and son because she's focused on uncovering her husband's secrets. Following his disappearance and presumed death in a plane crash, Suzie is starting to discover things about Masa that she never knew before.
What happens in 'Sunny' Episode 4?
'Sunny' Episode 4 begins with Suzie Sakamoto getting anxious upon seeing Hime (YOU) at Masa's funeral. Her attention is divided when she learns that Masa's father is still alive.
She later recalls that Masa regularly used to visit a Sento (communal bathhouse) and would joke about Yakuza men and their big tattoos.
With the help of Sunny, she and Mixxy (Annie the Clumsy) sneak in and eavesdrop on a conversation between a group of men, with one of them being Hime's cousin.
The discussion of these men is interrupted when Hime's henchman arrives and kills one of them for behing disloyal to Hime.
Mixxy and Suzie witness the murder and are scared out of their wits.
Meanwhile, Sunny gets Suzie's mother-in-law, Noriko (Judy Ongg) drunk and goes through her belongings. A document suggests that Noriko had an affair and Masa's real father is a man named Hiromasa Matsumoto.
Mixxy believes that Masa's real father could be a Yakuza, which would explain Hime's presence at the funeral.
Suzie visits the insurance company and raises her concern of fraud as Hiromasa was made Masa's beneficiary just three days before his death.
When she returns home, she is shattered to see that someone broke into her house and made it a mess in search of something confidential. She breaks into tears while Sunny suggests that they should leave.
What to expect in 'Sunny' Episode 5?
Suzie has not only witnessed a murder involving the gangsters, but she now also knows that she is on the radar as well.
After a home invasion, she is aware that it could happen again and the next time she won't be lucky enough to get out alive. And therefore, she, along with Suzie and Sunny will escape the city to take refuge at a safer location.
Meanwhile, they are most likely to investigate more about Masa's real father to find a connection that could explain Masa's secrets and his eventual death.
The official synopsis for 'Sunny' Episode 5 reads, "Sunny and Suzie flee Kyoto with Mixxy to take refuge at her family's farm."
When will 'Sunny' Episode 5 release?
After its premiere with two episodes on July 10, 2024, the Apple TV+ series is following a weekly release pattern.
Accordingly, 'Sunny' Episode 5 will be released on Apple TV+ on July 31. It will have a runtime of 36 minutes.
